Clint watched over the team once, and that was one times too many if Kate had anything to say about it. There were still paint stains on the ceiling of the warehouse, left from when Tommy had “adjusted” his gun in order to fire at the same speed as his reflexes could go. 

Lorna was a good second choice for about ten minutes. And she didn’t even cause as much property damage as Clint, though that was no one’s surprise. No, the problem wasn’t so much what damage she did as it was the fact that having three people related to Magneto in one room was… messy. 

Also the Avengers weren’t happy when the evening news had Billy, Tommy, and Lorna featured for showing off to one another in the middle of Central Park. The spectacle was entertaining, sure, but Steve was not happy with the idea of them not taking their responsibilities seriously enough. 

(No one bothered to mention the time he was seen playing frisbee with the shield)

The less that Gertrude and her pet dinosaur are mentioned around Kate, the better. The others are fairly certain that she will never forgive anyone for letting Old Lace eat her favorite quiver. 

“Are you sure about this?” Kate asked her newest choice for babysitter. “You wouldn’t rather, I don’t know, pull your own teeth out or wrestle with some sharks?” 

Bucky Barnes looked her right in the eyes. “I was in charge of six girls specifically trained as assassins. I think your team will be fine.”

Tommy sped past the two of them, screaming something too fast for anyone to understand. A moment later Noh-Varr flew past, the jets from his boots leaving burns on the cement. 

Kate lowered her sunglasses and stepped back. “They’re all yours.”
