Another casualty of Marvel rushing to screw over the X-Men franchise as soon as they sold to Disney.
At the time this happened, Jeff Parker had issue 7′s script already finished. That’s how quick and sudden the cancellation was; he had work completed that otherwise wouldn’t have been done if Marvel had already planned to cancel the book and told him sooner.
I suspect this cliffhanger is also a result of Marvel canceling the book prematurely. I think this reveal would’ve come much later on, but he had to give it away here because he wouldn’t get to follow through on it.

Jeff Parker’s Exiles was very sadly cut far shorter than it should have gone. Only six issues for something that had such amazing potential, and did so great with what little he was allowed to do before Disney and Marvel axed it.
I don’t know how much activity this post will get, but it’s worth a try because I’m curious.
If you’re looking at this post, you most likely know who Polaris (Lorna Dane) is. My question: how did you find out about her?
Mine is after the cut, or jump, or whatever you want to call it.
I can’t remember how I got there, but at some point in early 2009, I was link-hopping around the Marvel wikia. Maybe I recently saw the Iron Man film, maybe someone was talking about Marvel and I was just curious, I honestly don’t know. Eventually, one of those links took me to the Polaris entry.
Of course, her aesthetic intrigued me, but her character history was what hooked me. There were all these personal emotional events in her life, things I never even knew happened in the Marvel universe, that went completely unknown to me for my entire life. I’d grown into an adult without knowing she even existed.
That day, I immediately went out to a nearby comic book shop and bought about four comics that had Lorna on the covers. It would’ve been better if I got a list of her most important appearances like House of M, or at least bought a whole story arc instead of just one issue of it, but I didn’t know that at the time. This level of comic fandom was new to me. Luckily, one of those books was the TPB of Civil War: House of M.
So that’s my story. I’m curious to see where everyone else jumped on board. Maybe it was her stint on Uncanny X-Men? 90s X-Factor? The Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon? All-New X-Factor? Some great cosplay or fanart? Whatever it is, I’m interested to find out.
Exiles Polaris (2009) Cards
First time I’ve seen this, looks absolutely amazing. Exiles version Lorna was one of her best AU versions (which I’ll admit isn’t a very fierce competition, but still). I really wish this series hadn’t been abruptly shut down after the Disney buyout, in my opinion it was among the best work put out by Marvel.
Working on a custom Polaris from Exiles right now. Bought the Emma Frost Bishoujo and used some apoxie sculpt to fix it up. Gonna sand down some of the rough parts tomorrow and start painting hopefully.
This looks like it’s going to be really cool and promising. Looking forward to the finished work, and thanks for sharing!

Maybe that’s the reason they introduced Wanda, Pietro and Ultron all in the same film: to show why Wanda, Pietro and Lorna belong together as a family.
