Naomi killing herself because she has cancer, only for the game to reveal Sunny specifically programmed the Patriots AI so nanomachines could still be used for medical purposes (like counteracting cancer) even after the core was destroyed, was so much bullshit.

Hideo Kojima needs to not write stupid double-triple-quadruple agent plot twists if he’s just going have characters kill themselves for no reason so he doesn’t have to worry about following through on character development.

In my headcanon, Naomi didn’t die or kill herself. Her claim to cancer itself may even be a lie.

Naomi is a woman who you should never, ever take entirely at face value. In MGS1, she managed to trick her way onto Snake’s team to inject him with FOXDIE while assuming someone else’s identity. In MGS4, she “betrays” Snake, and regardless of how the player views it, in the MGS universe, she’s convincing enough that Snake and Otacon believed she really did betray them.

So here’s my thinking. Naomi faked her death because she wanted to be free from her past. Otacon abducted her and forced her to aid his agenda, despite her wanting nothing to do with it. She regrets putting FOXDIE in Snake’s system. She’s done things she regrets, and knows people will come for her to try to make her do the same thing or worse. Groups like World Marshal Inc or people like Senator Armstrong might abduct her, or try to coerce her by getting to Otacon or Sunny. Just having those connections puts her and the people around her at risk, which means she has to cut them to truly start over.

There’s no actual confirmation other than Naomi’s word that she ever had cancer. Pressing a syringe into her neck may have been dramatics, and Naomi acting like a bit of a drama queen may have been hamming it up… but it was effective enough for people not to consider that she may have faked her death.

From there, how or whether or not she escaped is kind of inconsequential, because anything can be made up. Maybe she snuck onto one of the ships. Maybe Otacon left one of the mechs with her under the idea she could use it to escape back to him if necessary, unaware she wasn’t actually helping him. Or, she really could have died, but had an escape plan ready if she had survived.

Personally, I’d been hoping we’d see Naomi return in a future Metal Gear Solid game, but sadly it looks like that’ll never happen now.

Not to intervene and add to your fury with Days of Futures past which seems to mimic my own but there was a rumor that that child was Effing POLARIS. Supposedly Wanda was never mentioned and his name is Peter because they are STUPID that’s why. and just in case I love your blog and sorry for adding fuel to the fire. Seems to burn just like my own.

I hate that it’s Peter like bruh it’s Pietro get it right. And I’m sure it’s a good movie (I mean who doesn’t like mystique?) but we started watching it half an hour in. My sisters seen the whole thing. But we are literally coming up with headcanons and fanfic ideas about a friendship between Wanda Natasha Gamora and Mystique (and in one AU Harley Quinn)

1) Bryan Singer only said the little girl wasn’t Wanda; he did not say it is Lorna, though I absolutely want it to be. Bryan Singer also heavily implied that Wanda is elsewhere in the house, but that the scene mentioning it was cut from the film.

2) I want both Polaris and Scarlet Witch in the next film or a future one, because they’re awesome together as sisters.

3) I completely understand being outraged if Lorna is Pietro’s sole sister and Wanda doesn’t exist at all, but I really don’t like the tone/implication by amarexestxanimas here that’s hostile toward Lorna being in the film. It pings past experiences where old-time fans act like she’s a bad character that doesn’t deserve anything good just because she’s been treated poorly by Marvel in the past.

Ugh.  Right in the feels.  The X-Men are turned upside down as every original member besides Cyclops leaves the team.  Not only that, BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE SEE THAT SCOTT AND JEAN ARE TOGETHER.  It is implied that they have been together for a while, but we never saw it, or saw them smooch, or heard them say they love each other.  This is the first time.  As she’s walking out the door.  (X-Men #94 – Aug 1975)

Lorna’s looking good here, even if it is just for one panel.

peppermonster:

Polaris from when I went clubbing last year after NFCC. I couldn’t go this year due to homelessness and being broke. (Not even cute broke. Broke as in no income, past due bills, no food, no gas in car kind of broke. Don’t come at me with “I’m so broke” but your fucking bills are being paid and you have a permanent residence, because you are not fucking broke)
But thinking of better days.
I love Lorna. Thinking of the struggles of my favorite characters keeps me going by keeping things in perspective. But I wish I had powers just so I can take/steal money. Yes. I would be a villain. America sucking is my origin story.

Please Kill Us: Jean Grey and Sue Storm as Rebels With No Future

The image included here is by James Zark.

This is a powerful representation of Marvel’s current legacy, and that of pretty much everyone at Disney and Marvel that happily and maliciously pursues the current course.

This is what people will remember: that Disney and Marvel are so greedy, the egos of people running it are so inflated, that they’re willing to undermine and destroy whole worlds and characters people love and cherish with all their hearts just because Fox owns the film rights.

Is this what Marvel stands for? Crushing the dreams and memories of hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of people over cash and power? What about the people who have felt inspired and uplifted in their day to day lives because the X-Men and Fantastic Four exist? Do their lives mean less than selfish whims?

That does not mean Marvel isn’t still doing some admirable things. There’s female Thor. There’s the new Ms. Marvel, and finally promoting Carol Danvers up to Captain Marvel. There’s making Falcon into the new Captain America. But the good things do not balance out the bad. Just as donating to charity does not make up for viciously attacking someone, new good decisions do not cancel out new bad decisions.

kurt-banged-her:

Black Rogue.
Black Polaris.
how about Mexican Scott and Alex? Might actually make me pay attention to their existence.
Indian Mystique has always been my head canon for her and this means Kurt is Indian which is full circle because he becomes adopted by Romani people who also descended from India.
Black Warren Worthington with Blonde hair.
Middle Eastern Azazel.
Black Bobby Drake (because Johnny Storm and mirroring the two)
Latina Jean Grey.
Brian and Betsy Braddock being half white British and half Japanese so Betsy doesn’t have some stupid convoluted literal racelift.
Native American Logan? Would make up for the removal of Thunderbird I (who should be resurrected anyhow)

Reminds me of the pictures shared on here before that people suggested as black Polaris, alongside black Scarlet Witch.

Like with Magneto, the only sticking point for me is that she also remain Jewish. Black, Asian, Mexican, Native American, all of that’s good by me as long as she doesn’t lose that part of herself. Especially since Marvel’s already trying to rob Wanda and Pietro of their heritage with their forced retcon.
