This post is overdue. Tweets about Polaris. Two separate times of tweet-gathering shown here.Ā

Another fancast. Seeing a fair number more these days.

My personalĀ ā€œfancastā€ more in spirit, look and style than in acting history is Bishop Briggs. White Flag and Dream are very Lorna songs and capture her nature perfectly.

Basically, all of these tweets combine to say the same thing:Ā @marvelentertainment is completely ignoring what people actually want in favor of what they want to make people want.

Yet again, I demonstrate that there’s great demand for Polaris and content involving her. People aren’t just saying it’d be nice to have her. They’re having dreams about things they want that Marvel won’t give them.Ā It really says something about the biases and ego rampant at a company when there’s this kind of interest and it’s spurned cause the people in charge refuse to acknowledge it.

People who follow my posts know I had a lot of complaints about Bunn’s writing of Lorna. One thing that can be said, though, is that she was in some of it. This user demonstrates that Blue would have had more success and interest if Lorna had been put to real use on the book.

Just a little more to emphasize interest in the whole Magnus family.

And this is another case of showing just how valuable the Polaris legends figure really was.

Lorna went over a decade without one, she was on countless top 10 most wanted lists for years. She’s been out for a couple years, and this is the result.

Exposure matters. Sometimes it’s finding out she exists at all and sparking interest. Or in the latter case, that figure provides emotional support

It’s more than just some dude buying a figure to collect or to give to a kid to play with. Figures can inspire new ideas, and offer much-needed motivation through tough times.

I’m still so happy that more and more people are noticing and repeating how Lorna was the second woman to join the X-Men. Word of mouth is taking care of informing people about something Marvel isn’t bothering to tell anyone about.

I also love when her nature as Mistress of Magnetism is acknowledged.

There’s tooooooooooooooons of role playing done that involves different versions of Polaris. I generally don’t post about those role plays, for the same reason I don’t post OTP matches or theĀ ā€œPolaris [insert verb] the Marvel universeā€ posts. There’s one interesting NSFW one that’s regularly caught my eye, but I never posted here cause this isn’t a NSFW blog.

This one stood out for me though, enough for me to want to share it here. I never would’ve thought of role play of baby Lorna, let alone interacting with baby sis Wanda. It’s pretty cool to me.

Different take on the whole X-Babies thing Marvel’s done stuff with.

Yes @esteicy-blog, I’m posting one of your tweets again. šŸ˜› I agree with it here and when I responded on Twitter.

Jean would be a nice girlfriend. A new version of Dreamer based off the one that was on Gifted would also be good, IMO.

Personally, I’m not deeply invested in what shade of green she has as long as it’s very clearly green and fits her overall look.

But, I found these tweets really interesting food for thought. To me, anyone caring this much about not just her hair being green, but what shade of green is yet another sign of how much interest and support she has.

People don’t go down into details like that if they aren’t invested in the character, and people don’t get invested in characters when there’s nothing worth getting invested in.Ā

Questions be questions.

The second one is neat in that it’s more of Lorna considered meaningful enough to be a trivia item for people to answer.Ā

More of desire for Lorna in X-Men movies, this time with desire to actually play the role. Not just see it exist.

More of Lorna listed as various top favorites. More of her listed alongside other high-profile names.

Last one. Green hair = Polaris is a take I’m all for seeing more of, as always.

Lorna Dane is queer and she likes redhead women because I say so

šŸ’šā¤ļø

Heyyy just so you know, I didn’t used to be much of a Polaris fan (I mostly only knew her badly written incarnations where she’s either OP and “crazy” or a damsel in distress, and some bad rpers are to blame as well) but since recently reading ANXF and then catching some of your excellent meta posts about her, I’ve totally come around to the Lorna Dane Defense Squad. So thanks — keep fighting the good fight, and hopefully someday Lorna can be written as well as she deserves!

Thanks! I’m glad my meta posts have helped in seeing more of who Lorna is and what she has to offer! Sometimes I feel like I write way too much in posts, but I tend to start out small and then it just builds up. Suddenly I’m feeling like I need to add pictures, elaborate on points, etc.

Since you mention ANXF, I do feel like I should be up front that I had a lot of complaints about that run too, but most of those complaints were from ANXF #3-6. Peter David seemed to start listening to complaints and try turn things around starting with #7, and he did give her a lot of good and important milestones.

And yeah, unfortunately bad presentation of Lorna by other people can mar perception of the character. I’m glad any time someone can sidestep or get past the bad stuff and see the good in Lorna that exists regardless of what some people say online, how Marvel doesn’t support her or cases where they treat her poorly, etc.

One of two fake abortion clinics on the same street as the REAL center, the EMW’s Women Center here in downtown Louisville. This one is right next door to the actual clinic and this place is seriously a nightmarish hell-hole for any unsuspecting women tricked by the anti’s. They assure you this this the abortion clinic, they get you inside, and then offer you food and drink—which of course, means that once you realize your mistake, you can’t run next door and catch your actual appointment, since you need to fast.

Women have come out of this building crying, and on a few rare occasions, without their pants. They take you to a back room for an ultrasound, have you remove your pants, and then begin lecturing you on the sins of aborting. They do not give you back your pants until you have listened, and a few women tricked this far refused to listen and stormed out furious, ashamed, and in their underwear.

This is the anti-choice agenda—lying, tricking, shaming, and embarrassing women to the brink of hysterics in hopes that she carry the pregnancy to term. Forcing her, through lies and manipulation, to do with her body what THEY want, not what is best for her.

There is no ā€œchoiceā€ at the Louisville ā€œWomen’s Choiceā€ clinics. Just abuse, shame, and bigots who would rather undress a woman to make her feel vulnerable and then explain how awful of a person she is than let her make HER. CHOICE.

I reblogged this at first without checking if it was legit but it turns out it is legit and people need to be warned. A simple google search is all the evidence you need.

Resources for women in Louisville, KY! PLEASE be aware of this.Ā http://www.emwwomens.com/index.html

Reblogging for links.

And as a general rule: if the place says ā€œcrisis pregnancy centerā€ or anything similar, IT IS A TRICK. Real women’s health clinics are typically called ā€œwomen’s health clinicsā€. They do not specialize in ONLY pregnancy, because a woman has more health concerns than just that uterus. Even if you get past the name, Planned Parenthood’s full description is as a health clinic, because they screen or refer to physicians who screen for cancers and diseases, as well as educate about pregnancy (yes, they can and do explain what to expect throughout pregnancy to new mothers who want their pregnancies. My mother found her Lamaze class through a PP.)

Crisis pregnancy centers cannot call themselves ā€œclinicsā€ because they do not actually offer licensed medical care. If they try to use ā€œclinicā€, remember that ethical doctors would never use ā€œcrisisā€ in their practice’s name; a crisis is a difficult choice or situation, often with moral implications (i.e.: ā€œcrisis of faithā€, ā€œfinancial crisisā€, ā€œmid-life crisisā€, etc.) It has nothing to do with receiving medical treatment. No one with a broken leg is having a crisis; they’re having a medical emergency. Words matter.

HOLY FUCK! I have one of those Crisis Pregnancy Centers nearby!! Signal Boost. Thanks for the info!

It disgusts me that these places are actually legal to operate.

flipping fucking what?? This shit is legal?? holding your pants hostage must fall under some penalty CMON *FOAMS AT THE MOUTH*

i saw this shit on VICE. they really paint themselves as abortion clinics just to traumatize women.

Excuse me? How is this a real thing????

A lot of the notes are talking about how these are an American thing, but we have them in Canada as well so pregnant people looking for services in Canada should be careful too
