You’re clearly a big X-Men fan (or is X-Factor more accurate?), so may I ask if you have any stories to recommend for new readers? Or just any stories you happened to really enjoy?

Hello anon! Thanks for asking.

I’m a big fan of Polaris/Lorna Dane, but as far as X-Men and X-Factor, it was always about the same as any other group until I found out about Lorna. Sadly, Marvel hasn’t been willing to actually use Lorna very much, and because my hope was that I’d be introduced to the wider Marvel universe through her, I don’t have much that isn’t about or involving Lorna to suggest.

My big suggestion is Exiles volume 2, which is only 6 issues long. In that one, you see alternate universe versions of Lorna and Wanda (Scarlet Witch) fighting and spending time together. In my mind, it’s currently the absolute best depiction of Lorna and Wanda as sisters out there.

Aside from that, I would suggest New X-Men #132 and Uncanny X-Men #443. Both are in the aftermath of a major storyline, but you don’t need to have read those major storylines to read and enjoy those issues.

New X-Men #132 is a powerful issue about the effects of the genocide and destruction on Genosha, which was a mutant nation run by Magneto until said destruction. Uncanny X-Men #443 is also about Genosha, from a different angle, and I think it uses Lorna in an excellent way that gets across the core issues between the Magneto and Xavier schools of thought in the X-Men franchise.

If you want something more recent (all my suggestions above are 2009 or earlier), I suggest the latest issue of All-New X-Factor, All-New X-Factor #14. While I don’t think it’s as good as the suggestions above, I still think it’s a great issue.

I hope all this text isn’t overwhelming! I can get carried away when I really get into talking about something. Exiles vol. 2 may be trickier to get, I couldn’t find an entry on Comixology or Marvel Digital Comics Shop for that.
