Posting a chapter of a story you haven’t updated in ages

My immediate reaction is thinking about how a lot of people are questioning if the reason behind it is due to C.B. Cebulski’s time pretending to be an Asian writer named Akira Yoshida, and getting work in comics that could have gone to genuinely Asian writers.

After that, I’m not completely sure yet. Frontrunner thoughts popping up involve cultural appropriation, Rachel Dolezal and Get Out, but there’s a lot of layers to the decades of character – and I’ve never been a fan or spent much time ever thinking about Psylocke before. My ordinary attitude when it comes to other characters is “defer to the judgment of that character’s fans.” That doesn’t really work in this case because the racial issues run too deep.

Overall, I think I need to see more and listen more before I settle firmly into a particular stance. I especially need to see more of what Asian – especially East Asian – people think about Psylocke in general and this recent development specifically.
