anyways im sick of the house of m girls’ narratives being always focused around men. wanda spent half of her solo focused on male relatives and 80% of writers don’t even acknowledge lorna as anything other than havok’s girlfriend. i’m fucking sick of it.
Complete agreement here on Lorna.
On Wanda, I didn’t read it so I can’t say much. Except that I felt Marvel’s forced retcon on her parentage meant it robbed her of potentially great stories with Lorna.
I’m doing the finishing touches on the Polaris minicomic draft for her
50th anniversary. If anyone wants to look it over when this draft is
done and give feedback, let me know.
Hey, so it’s time for me to make a post about something I’ve been on for a while and just haven’t mentioned until now.
When I left CBR earlier this year, I found and jumped onto a new board called The Danger Room. It’s a bunch of people from CBR chatting about various things, heavily X-Men focused but broader than that.
Why am I mentioning now? Cause some users said they’d like some new faces and I got the go-ahead to spread word. 🙂 So if you’re interested, check it out.
you know, nonnie..you always know how to make a gal struggle. i just wanna point out that every mutant is a complete badass and can kick my ass any day.
1. wanda maximoff – i know she kind of caused a gigantic mess with the whole ‘trying to access charles mind’ thing but..this woman right here is the baddest of them all. seriously. not only is she breathtakingly beautiful but she can get business done. do i need to go on?
2. johnny storm– all i gotta say is this man has quite literally stolen my heart. not only is he smokin’ with those flames of his but have you seen the way he looks? he could melt you by just lookin’ at you! seriously though, i have a feeling he could do some pretty big damage if he wanted too.
3. lorna dane– i could go on and on about this babe right here. she’s smart, she’s fierce, she’s gorgeous, she’s incredibly strong and have i mentioned incredibly powerful? there’s no telling what this gal can do but all i know is i’m here for it. give her the recognition she deserves.
4. gabby kinney– is she considered a mutant? either way she’s on this list because this girl’s not only as cute as one can get but as fierce as one can get. i’m almost positive this girl could kick anybody’s ass in this place and you’ll definitely see me cheering her on.
5. anna marie– listen, i know this gal’s just got here but it doesn’t take long for anyone to notice just how amazing she is. not only does that sweet mississippi accent get anyone going but she can literally absorb the life out of anything. how badass is that?
6. remy lebeau– i want everyone to know i’ve the biggest heart eyes for this man. his words are so incredibly captivating i could listen to him talk literally for the rest of my life. out of all the mutants here, i definitely have to say he has some of the coolest abilities and i hope we get to see more of this badass cutie.
7. emma frost– now, i know this gem should definitely be higher on my list because..well..she’s emma freakin’ frost but? i haven’t seem much of her yet. still, she definitely deserves to be at least somewhere on here because have you seen her? not only could she slice you in half with that tongue of hers, but she could literally freeze you from just her beauty. i volunteer.
8. scott summers– oh cyclops, a classic gem in the mutant community. i think it’s more than obvious that those optic blasts could slice through literally anything, which by the way– so *badass*. we have so many of those here, don’t we? but he’s a complete and total heartthrob! show yourself more, handsome! don’t hide!
9. logan howlett– again, another classic. this man screams ‘edgy’ no matter where he goes and i live, breathe, and die for it. he’s also kinda a hot mess which is..hot in itself? plus, he’s always got something snarky to say and he always, even if he doesn’t mean too, gives me a good laugh. mans got a tongue, i’ll tell ya. also? those claws? literally insane. slice it up, boo!
10. bobby drake– last but certainly not least is mister bobby drake. he always seems to bring a sense of light and happiness to the mutant community which, is something some of these babes totally need. he’s just absolutely adorable and breathtakingly handsome that i just couldn’t help but save him for the best spot. his icy powers can also do some pretty chilling stuff.
When I complain about Havok forced on Lorna, this is the fucking reason why. This is supposed to be a write-up for her, but instead, it’s a write-up of how she’s been used for the benefit of men around her.
I deliberately removed the user’s name and handle because I don’t want him to be harassed, and that would accomplish absolutely nothing anyway if it did happen.
What matters isn’t who said it, it’s why they said it. That reason is the impression they get of Lorna because of her history with Havok. Because of all those decades, this user – and many others – perceive her as a character that exists for men. That can and should only be seen in terms of how she can advance the stories of men, add status to men, make men look good by being around them. Never what Lorna herself has accomplished, how she’s developed, what she’s been through.
This is why I hate Havok after X-Men Blue, and why I’m so fiercely against Havok forced on her. It’s Marvel muddying the view of who Lorna actually is. It’s disregarding her value because they can’t seem to care enough about this female character to do right by her, because she’s not popular like Jean Grey or Storm or Emma Frost so they can get away with it.
