Drawings from the stream!
1.) Fusion of Shinnok and Bloody Marie because we need a little doomsday in our lives.
2&3.) Sketches of my girl, Embrelle.
4.) Pin up of Kitana. Guessing she lost? Perhaps this lead to events regarding a certain other drawing I did? I spoke to much here.

30 min warm up – scarlet witch
Do Freebird! Or Polaris. Both would work. Maybe the two combined? 😛
Whedon, Twitter, Attacks
Hello. I’d like to write a little something.
Joss Whedon deleted his Twitter account today. From what I can gather, it’s because of a lot of harassment and death threats he’s received, and Twitter’s continuing inability to stop such behavior.
There are at least two groups I’m aware of that are…
Just saying Whedon has a History of Anti-ziganism and Racism so can you at least acknowledge HE is to blame for that.
I don’t recall ever seeing such out of him in the past. I’ve only seen BtVS, Angel and his two Avengers films. Within those, what comes to mind are Principal Wood and Kendra in BtVS and Charles Gunn in Angel as major characters, and Jenny Calendar and the gypsy curse. Could’ve used more representation, of course, but I don’t recall any of that being hateful or negative.
However, it’s also important to note there as well that he wasn’t the only one involved, which could easily translate into “the execs above him caused the bad developments” or “his co-creators that were around him during those shows are responsible for the good bits.”
That said, I’m definitely disappointed and a little annoyed that Whedon both didn’t use Polaris and created Agent Brand as a green-haired character during his X-Men run.
the word “Gypsy” is a slur don’t use it see there’s an example of Anti-Ziganism. Also Firefly was about Chinese culture and yet never hired a chinese person to speak at all if he’s the common factor between all of this it’s pretty obvious he is racist.
Also he’s never wrote women of colour in a positive way there’s loads more examples of him being racist but I’m not pointing them out today.
I don’t condone any death threats he received (I doubt he recieved any anyhow I think he just deleted it due to Black Widow backlash) I’m just saying he is to blame and people have a right to criticise him for all the shitty things he’s done.
I was not aware “gypsy” is a slur, thanks for informing me. I won’t use it from here on out.
Firefly not hiring a Chinese person with Firefly based on Chinese culture is something I very much understand complaining about, but not to the point of saying “Yeah, the guy who runs the show is a horrible racist and he’s doing it all on purpose.”
Also keep in mind, Firefly came out in 2002. That may not sound like a long time, but a LOT has changed culturally since then. Jokes at the expense of transgender people are rightly shunned. There’s a huge push for traditionally white straight male characters to have one or more of those aspects changed in pop culture.
The first Fantastic Four film from Fox came out in 2005, and fanboys and fangirls bitched up such a storm about Jessica Alba taking on a role “for a white woman” that Fox made Jessica Alba’s eyes blue in the second film to try to appease fan complaints. Today, Fox is putting out the new Fantastic Four with a black Johnny Storm and they’re getting praised for it.
Things that are bad today were not bad 10 years ago. We can’t always judge a person today by the things they said and did a decade ago. Culture changes, people change, and it’s moving faster and faster.
Now we CAN judge by the past if we have nothing we can look at to suggest they’ve gotten any better. It’s even more damning if they’ve gotten worse. Motomu Toriyama at Squeenix is a good example of someone who’s gotten worse with his sexism to the point it can be called misogyny. He ruined Yuna, Rikku and Lulu with Final Fantasy X-2, then nearly 10 years later he turned Aya Brea into a sexist madman’s play toy with 3rd Birthday.
But with Joss Whedon, from what I’ve seen his mistakes can be chalked up as ignorance of the time, and it can be reasonable assumed he’s gotten better since then.
Also, I have no problem at all with people complaining about or criticizing Joss Whedon. That’s fine. It’s when it goes into harassment and death threats that it’s a problem. As long as you condemn such behavior, I’m cool with whatever you want to say. 🙂
In 2015 he still whitewashed two Romani Jewish characters, he refuses to learn or even do anything so his behaviour is the same as it was a decade ago.
Again, Disney and Marvel are to blame for that one.
If Disney and Marvel had not forced the retcon of Wanda and Pietro out of being Magneto’s kids in the comics, I would have said it might be Joss Whedon or Kevin Feige’s fault. Because they forced the retcon, the companies as a whole are to blame.
Even if we were to assume Whedon is definitely to blame, even if we had definitive proof to back it up, Marvel has such totalitarian control over the creative direction of its films that they would and could have demanded Whedon incorporate their Romani Jewish background no matter what he thinks or feels. The fact Disney and Marvel not only had that in the films but pushed it into the comics themselves is proof of just how shitty Disney and Marvel are once their film rights spat with Fox comes into the mix.

So I’m curious if they wanted to keep the continuity in the comics then the issue lies with Century Twentieth Fox and Marvel. Marvel did a dick move with the comics but has Fox done anything in their own right to mess things up? Shouldn’t there be emphasis on the studios working together? Rather than Marvel destroying its comic continuity and getting over their rival with Fox Studios.
The problem here is that Marvel doesn’t have a good relationship with Fox (some say it comes all the way from the negotiations over those movie rights in the 90′s, that Marvel ended up getting too little for them or something). The consequence of that is that Marvel doesn’t make as much money from cartoons, toys, and other merchandise of X-Men and Fantastic Four as they do from stuff they own the full rights to, like Avengers and GotG, or Spider-Man, which they now share with Sony (we don’t know the full details of any of this, but it’s what we get from what people who work at Marvel, like Brevoort, have said on the subject). They’re a big company that are in this for the money, so why would they put their dollars in something that would barely bring them any return? It makes sense from a business point of view.
As much as we hate the changes Marvel is going through and want to lash out at all this nonsense, they’re not doing this to screw with Fox, or because they think it’s a better story, like they claim. They’re doing this because it’s better for their business to have a cohesive universe where the characters who are part of the Avengers or the Guardians on the comics are mostly the same as the general audience can see on the movies, where the origins of said characters might not be the same in both universes, but they’re not so disparate either. So, yes, while part of the reason they changed the Maximoffs’ origins so they’re no longer mutants or Magneto’s kids is, in a way, to avoid connections to Fox and sending curious fans and their money their way, the main reason is that they believe turning the comics into a universe that is closer to what the MCU fans recognize than it has been so far will bring over more readers their way.
In conclusion: capitalism sucks.
My own addendum: in addition to capitalism, Disney and Marvel increasingly suck too.
I understand their “logic,” it’s just that it’s stupid ass “logic” that’s only hurting themselves and giving no greater or even equal payoff in return. If it’s hurting Fox at all, the damage is incredibly minor, while Disney and Marvel are ruining their own franchises and pushing away customers they don’t need to lose. Even the “logic” of doing it to attract movie fans is shoddy, because nearly all the movie fans will do whatever they were going to do regardless.
Disney and Marvel are essentially doing the equivalent of turning away thousands of fans they could very easily keep by not ruining anything in order to add a little extra charm to wooing a few hundred potential new fans.
