Aya Brea – Parasite Eve 2
I had so much fun shooting with SeyeCO Images! These photos turned out so amazing!!
I’m glad to see more Aya Brea cosplay after seeing a few new pieces of cosplay of “Aya” from 3rd Birthday. I’m hoping we get a Parasite Eve 3 making 3rd Birthday noncanon and starring the awesome Aya we know and love soon.
Preparing to become Lorna Dane

X-Men #187 (2006)
It was really sad that the next time we saw Lorna after this, it was to throw away a great potential storyline for her in the anti-Apocalypse cult trying to kill her, all to force her into space and have her act rather submissive to Alex.
A moment as great as this should’ve been followed up with a story arc or miniseries of Lorna traveling the world.
Yeah why did they even put her in Alex’s stupid space adventure with his stupid brother anyway? Like the writers shat their pants at the thought of Lorna being more confident than Alex so why even use her? The only good thing to come out of that was her interaction with Luna though I find it strange how she bonded with Luna so quickly then later went on to say she still hadn’t thought of Pietro as her older brother
They did it because some people at Marvel did, and some still do, see Lorna as a character that should only exist as a minor supporting character to Havok. Having more to her than just him, or even moving beyond him, is something they couldn’t handle and didn’t want to see happen. It’s why the Avengers books were willing to add Havok and use him on Uncanny Avengers, but absolutely refused to acknowledge Lorna as part of the Magnus family even to the point of removing her from House of M images.
Of course, things have improved greatly since then, but it remains important to keep the past in mind and how Lorna has been cheated out of much of her potential and opportunities. The advances should be celebrated, but the obstacles that had to be overcome just to get those advances also need to be acknowledged.

It’s nothing like the other two games in the series. AT ALL. There’s so much wrong with third birthday that it’s unbelievable. Of course that’s just MY opinion. Like what even was that horrible excuse for a ‘battle system’? Where was the ‘horror’ aspect of the game? The other two games in the series felt really unique while third birthday was lacking and boring.
There are many, many things about 3rd Birthday that made it terrible, especially as a supposed part of the franchise and characters but even just in general.
Aya Brea as everyone that loves and knows her was a tough, cool badass from the start. In Parasite Eve, in spite of how bizarre and new people bursting into flames and mutant animals was, she remains composed and no-nonsense. She has a duty, she’s going to do it, any she doesn’t hesitate or flinch. That attitude continues in Parasite Eve II, though we do see a softer side to her through Eve.
3rd Birthday “Aya” wasn’t Aya at all. She was terrified, trembling, on the verge of tears over having to fight and risk her life. Even the way she holds the gun is weak and unsure.
And I know “Aya” is Eve in Aya’s body, but the game still made it look like this is supposed to be Aya. This was the first game to star Aya Brea in over 10 years, all of the marketing and promotion said this is Aya Brea, for all intents and purposes the average person was expected to believe 3rd Birthday “Aya” was really the same Aya everyone that played Parasite Eve and Parasite Eve II knows and loves.
And then there was the over-sexualization, which was another problem entirely. When the clothes ripping off mechanic was revealed, the producer tried to defend it as “realism.” This was immediately followed by months of Famitsu, Japan’s most famous video game magazine, putting out previews where whatever new fetish outfit Aya’s wearing was the big centerpiece focus. The shower scene, which the team insisted would not happen in 3rd Birthday, was ultimately added to the game – and its entire presentation is on the verge of softcore porn. There’s also several cases of characters saying things at or bordering on sexual harassment, that “Aya” just accepts.
By contrast, Parasite Eve was always tasteful. The black dress of PE1 was the “worst” it ever really got in terms of costumes, and that was classy. Likewise, art where she was naked or near-naked was framed in classy, artistic forms, and she was never nude in PE itself. The closest she came to nudity was the shower scene in PEII, which given how calm, soft and relaxed it was presented, could be taken as tasteful.
Ultimately, what we got in 3rd Birthday was an “Aya” that was the exact opposite of everything Aya really is. Where Aya is strong, confident and professional, “Aya” is scared, unsure of herself and entirely unprofessional. Where any presentation of Aya’s body is thoughtful and artistic, any presentation of “Aya’s” body is vulgar bordering on pornographic. Aya is a full-fledged woman; “Aya” is a sex object.
If 3rd Birthday was a brand new IP starring entirely brand new characters, I wouldn’t care. It could do whatever it wanted. But as it claimed to star Aya and claimed to continue Parasite Eve, what it did to both the character and the franchise can’t be excused.

About the thread linked alongside this: Avengers vs X-Men came out in 2012. This would’ve been a PERFECT time for Lorna and Wanda to duke it out over M-Day. M-Day caused Lorna a hell of a lot of pain that I could go into paragraphs to explain, and Wanda’s been on a character journey to set things right for that day and do what she can to help people. A fight between them would’ve been splashy and exciting, and would have provided a hell of a lot of narrative opportunity to really delve into and understand the characters, draw deeper interest into both of them.
Unfortunately, Marvel didn’t do that – because Marvel is trying to undermine everything having to do with the X-Men, and the Avengers editor didn’t have enough respect for Lorna at the time to make use of what she had to offer. But I think the linked thread demonstrates that despite how Marvel didn’t use it, the fans were thinking about it and sure as hell wanted to see it.
So, if anyone says “there’s no interest in Lorna and Wanda doing things together,” or “there isn’t enough interest in Lorna,” or anything like that, we can all remember Marvel had an opportunity and refused to take it.

We all have someone in our lives that would provoke this response and if YOU don’t- you’re prolly that person. #Sarcasm #Polaris is not a fan. #SecretWars #Siege

Err… sorry, but that’s Agent Brand
I’m starting to wonder just how often this happens, as it happened with Enchantress during Axis. Though to be fair, the Axis case is all Marvel’s fault. They wanted to make Enchantress look more like Lorna instead of actually using both Lorna and Enchantress during the event.

yay Lorna-centric arcs
X-Men #180 (2005)
This, too, is one of those great things that I feel should’ve led to more and better for her. I feel it should’ve been a precursor to a big moment for her tapping into some of her true potential, perhaps gaining control in ways Jean Grey and Wanda didn’t manage to do on account of their instances coming at a younger age.
