House of M #2 is coming out tomorrow and got me reminiscing about the original event and its countless subsequent miniseries. This page is from Civil War – House of M #3. Pietro meets the Inhumans for presumably the first time in that universe. Clearly there is no Crystal or Luna. It still baffles me how his actions are considered by many as selfish and petty.

Lorna Dane – Magneto’s Daughter?

atomgossipgirl:

Remember when I said little birds were chirping about the possibility of little Lorna being, in fact, non other than Erik Lehnsherr’s daughter? This gossip was confirmed by our very own Metal Princess last night. And who did she tell all about the magic test she and Wanda used to see if the gossip had been the truth? Her newfound brother, Pietro Maximoff, of course. It’s all in the family. Now my only question is, who will be brave enough to tell Magneto?

Polaris comic book options

I feel like writing down what I think could be done with Lorna in comic books. This isn’t meant to be a judgment on how likely they are to happen, or whether now would be a good or bad time for them. It’s only some free thought on all the things Marvel could do with and for Lorna if they really wanted.

With the recent reveal of young Iceman as gay, I think it would be great to see Lorna acting as an older supportive mother figure type. Present day Bobby and Lorna had various periods of romantic intrigue from the period shortly after where young Iceman came from, I would think Lorna would very much want to spend a little time with him.

If 616 Magneto is dead, then as a result of the forced retcon on Wanda and Pietro, Lorna is effectively the last member of the Magnus family standing. Magneto’s entire legacy falls on her shoulders. I see a lot of potential in Lorna and dealing with the mistaken expectations people have of her – both expecting her to be exactly like her father, and expecting her to be nothing like him.

Alternately, if the forced retcon is undone, Lorna could have a LOT going on with her family. I’ve always felt a Lorna and Wanda ongoing would be gold in the right hands. As much as so many of us love the sister relationship, their 616 sibling dynamics haven’t been developed all that much. An ongoing could cover the struggles of these sisters in figuring out what their relationship is and how they feel about each other. The only reason I don’t include Pietro in this suggestion is because if the theme is figuring out their relationship, Pietro’s already got it figured out with both his sisters.

And then of course, the entire family itself can be its own ongoing. We see how great the entire family is together with House of M, and it wouldn’t be the same if any one of them was missing.

Then, there are old storylines of Lorna’s that have yet to be explored.

Thanks to X-Factor #243, we know Lorna’s powers manifested at a young age. Her memories were sealed, but what about her powers? Mesmero used a stimulator to awaken her powers later, but what if her powers were active after all, just that her awareness of their existing was likewise buried in the memory re-write? We could have a solo of Lorna growing up, her powers manifesting in moments of stress, or brief periods where Lorna’s aware of her powers.

There’s also that anti-Apocalypse cult. At the time, the anti-Apocalypse cult was used as an excuse to send Lorna into space. What if it was more than that? You could have a big storyline involving her time as Pestilence, or even “awakening” a secondary power as Apocalypse’s alterations often leave behind. The anti-Apocalypse cult may even be a terrorist group, and Lorna needs to shut it down.

Lastly, there’s Genosha. There’s what 616 Magneto left behind, but there’s also the trauma endured with that genocide. Marvel keeps avoiding any mention or use of that period in her life, and it’s one of the biggest things that’s ever happened to her. Millions of people looked to her for protection, she failed, and she had to suffer the echoes of their final moments until the X-Men dug her out. That’s something I don’t think Lorna would ever forget, I think it’s something that would influence every single thing she does from that point forward, but it’s never addressed.

I think if the gloves were truly off and things were set up right, Lorna would have so many options. She could bring to the Marvel universe things no other character could, and expose aspects of characters that you would otherwise never see. These are just the thoughts that come to mind right now, there may be many more that escape me.

I should probably just come clean, I’m selling basically all of my Magneto family collection. The little bits are the things I have the most of, including a couple of Mighty Beans and some custom LEGO pieces.

One of the Wanda MiniMates is covering him up, but that Pietro in the back is in his black and white costume from the 90s.

I’m sorry to hear that, I hope it’s not a result of finances. You have an interesting collection here.

It’s partially about money, but mostly about me having no room.

Well if room’s the problem, we just need to get our hands on some Time Lord tech, don’t we? 😛
