COMMISSION – Polaris by IDarkShadowI
Commissioned by terpfen for me as a gift a couple years ago. He knows how much I love Polaris content, and at the time, I’d been talking about how much I’d love a Polaris solo book. He came up with the idea of a metallic looking title.

The classiest person at the Genoshan party to celebrate Wolverine’ death has to be Mortimer “Morty” Toynbee (AKA Toad) in Exiles v2 #2, as if being Magneto’s lackey is impressive to Age of Apocalypse’s version of Clarice Ferguson (AKA Blink). I mean, I guess that martini he slides down his throat is classy. His delusions of grandeur are depressing. I’m going to have a drink. Meanwhile, Lorna Dane (AKA Polaris) and Frederick “Fred” J. Dukes (AKA the Blob) are flirting.

Unfortunately, this isn’t actually intended to be Polaris. It’s a piece called Gatekeeper made by Skulio.
However, it’s very easy to make that mistake in this case. She’s in all green, she’s using a green power signature, she has long hair, she has a cape, and she has that skull clasp.
All of that leads me to the belief that Lorna’s design really is a great one, and it’s even more of a shame that Marvel refuses to make real use of her potential. Either her aesthetic is so good that it trickled through time to reach an artist even if they aren’t aware of it, or it’s so appealing and relatable in fantasy that people want to see it.
