Just wanna confirm, having skimmed the issue, that this is the entirety of Polaris’ appearance in the entire issue of X-Men ‘92 #8.

Of course, Abigail Brand gets a shitload of page time and use by contrast.

If you were thinking of getting it to see if there’s more Lorna to it, now you know there isn’t.

REN KIMURA IS BACK!!!

Nice to see that Polaris is still alive. When are they going to explain how Negasonic Teenage Warhead came back from the dead? Are her new powers a secondary mutation?

I wouldn’t assume she’s still alive just yet. Since this is a “dystopic future battle” and not present-day, it’s easily possible that Lorna’s dead or depowered and this is an alternate universe where she was revived/repowered.

Hopefully she really is alive and has her powers and this is a start to more and better use of her. But, this is Marvel. When it comes to Marvel and how it sees and treats Lorna, the past 7 years have taught me to expect hidden daggers beneath the surface of any potentially great news.

REN IS BACK!

Gotta admit that this really was unexpected out of the possibilities for where Polaris might show up. Not “absolutely impossible, no way it’ll happen” unexpected, but as in lower on the list of places I’d expect her.

The top two places I thought of as possibilities for her show up were either the Iceman solo, or some unannounced X-Men/X-Factor book starring Havok with Lorna stuck as his side piece again.

So, it’s a pleasant surprise to see her right up front on this cover, and wearing her iconic costume.

I’m still trying to fully wrap my head around it, so my mind’s not 100% on top of it yet. After 7 years of Marvel undermining advancements for Lorna, I’m getting into the habit of looking for any hidden daggers within seemingly great news. This appears to be confirmation that 616 Polaris is alive and has her powers if a dystopic future battle includes her. But then, who’s to say it won’t turn out that it’s an “alternate universe” future where Lorna regains her powers or is brought back to life, and 616 Lorna is dead or depowered and won’t return.

Hopefully, I’m worrying about nothing in that respect. But Marvel, the company, has taught me not to trust them.

In any case, it’s wonderful to see her represented again after a year’s absence, especially alongside Rachel and Nightcrawler. Don’t know who that is way in the back; maybe someone else can fill me in.
