I never got around to writing stuff about Sony’s E3 cause by that point I was both too sleepy and too unimpressed. Here’s a summary of that + Nintendo.

• The opener and musical numbers for Sony were awkward. I get why they did it, but they were still awkward.
• Looking forward to Nioh 2 and surprised it’s coming so soon.
• Resident Evil 2 remake looks bad, and that’s even setting aside how it’s yet another case of Capcom putting Leon on a pedestal and treating Claire like a minor supporting character for his story.
• Death Stranding is still weird, but I find myself wondering if it’s ever coming out.
• Control looks cool and I’m glad I’ll be able to play another Remedy game. Though I wish they’d do another Alan Wake entry.
• I’m glad Nintendo appears to be actually acknowledged Samus Aran’s value now, both in her placement on the roster and how much they included her in the Smash Bros stuff.
• I also like that they’ve returned Samus to being more muscular and toned down breast size from what was clearly the “give her more sex appeal” attitude.
• On the flip side, Zero Suit still has the stupid high heels. No.
• I also don’t know if they’re keeping the stupidly reduced height from original 6′3″ to that 5′ something (I think it was 5′0″?) that they went with more recently to make her smaller and shorter than the men around her.

That’s pretty much all I think I had to say. I was overall pretty disappointed in Sony’s conference.

Another day of E3.

• Not surprised Squeenix still hasn’t announced something to undo 3rd Birthday. As I said, they like to bury their mistakes and refuse to fix them because their egos matter more to them than any semblance of integrity.
• Dance number for start of Ubisoft was fun. Ubisoft is always the dorkiest conference of E3.
• Loooooooooooove Kassandra for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey! I can’t wait to play the game as her. Tough warrior woman that takes no shit.
• Also love that it appears there might be a chance for Kassandra to romance Kyra. I’m assuming Alexios can romance men too.
• Just plain love the Assassin’s Creed is making it possible to select gender this time. Evie was awesome in Syndicate and I was disappointed when it didn’t seem possible to do the same for Origins.
• Skull & Bones looks more interesting this year than I remember it last year.
• Beyond Good & Evil 2 also looks awesome. I like that it’ll be possible to submit stories and potentially see them in the finished game. I may actually try it (not with this name of course).
• Transference is going to be pretty trippy. It was a real Phantasmagoria vibe to it, and I mean that in a good way. I fuckin loved Phantasmagoria.
• I still need to play For Honor. I bought it for PC but my PC can’t handle it well, so I either need to get off my ass and upgrade the graphics card or else get it for PS4.

Sony is in less than an hour. Here’s hoping for good stuff! Or at least not having to see the current non-Tomb Raider “Tomb Raider” junk again after it’s already been covered in two conferences.

I expect more Death Stranding. Really hoping a sequel to Horizon is announced. A new Mortal Kombat entry would be good right about now as well; it’s been 3 years since the last entry.

It’s day 2 (or day 1 depending on your thoughts) of E3.

• Looking forward to more on RAGE 2 during Bethesda’s conference.
• Sekiro looks good like all From Software stuff does, hoping it’s on PS4 so I can play it.
• The latest “Tomb Raider” game with its “Lara Croft” that isn’t Lara at all continues to annoy me, and I want it to just get its junk done with ASAP so I can focus on better things.
• I’m indifferent to Ninja Theory getting taken over by Microsoft given what they did to Devil May Cry with DmC and how they behaved toward fans in the process.
• Female character in Devil May Cry 5 had very cringy dialogue and actions, but I remain open to her. I find a lot of good characters aren’t given a real chance. Only thing I can think of right now that would put me against her is if she’s supposed to be Kyrie and she’s not that way due to a curse or something similar, cause she’s way too much unlike Kyrie.
• Pretty cool of Battletoads to get a new game after all this time.
• Jump Force is basically The Avengers: Anime Edition. And I can see myself buying it even though DBZ is the only anime represented that I actually watched and know much about.

Those are my thoughts for now. I remain eternally demanding of Squeenix to make a new Parasite Eve/Aya Brea game that sets things right and makes 3rd Birthday completely noncanon, but that’s expecting Squeenix to have some actual standards and integrity. Which is asking too much from a company so obsessed with their own ego and pride that they’d rather kill franchises than admit they ever did anything wrong and try to fix them.

Next set after Bethesda and Devolver.

• Good to see more RAGE 2 and get a little story, but disappointed they didn’t show many NPCs, particularly female NPCs.
• That intro musical number with Andrew W.K. for RAGE 2 was excellent though. E3 has a tendency to do reeeeaaally bad with musical numbers (e.g. Glee for Konami, Wii Music for Nintendo). This actually worked.
• “And you beat the living fuck out of those Nazis” Aw yeah.
• Looking forward to Youngblood. Twin sisters is a cool new dimension not seen in games for protags that I can recall. Also, wow is everything out there going hard 80s nostalgia lately.
• Skyrim Very Special Edition skit was great.
• “Roll the garbage” is now a meme.
• I need to get my hands on some loot box coins.
• Devolver Digital was a lot shorter than I expected, and I’m disappointed by that, but also not surprised given how late it was and how worn out most people (especially industry people) probably are for today.
