This is my friend TJ, wearing a costume she made for Halloween, 1977.  She was 16 at the time.

Now, keep in mind: there was no internet to search for images.  She could not have rented and paused the movie, because it wasn’t released on video until 1982.  No, TJ just went to the movie a bunch of times, took notes with a flashlight, drew a bunch of sketches, and put this together.

In 19-fucking-77.  So let’s bury this bullshit about how women didn’t grow up on Star Wars.

Hell yeah TJ

Rape is the only crime on the books for which arguing that the temptation to commit it was too clear and obvious to resist is treated as a defence. For every other crime, we call that a confession.

I’ve gotten more angry asks about this post than I have actual reblogs.

This has always bothered the hell out of me. All crime with a sexual component to it, where women are the primary targets, gets treated like it’s something to mock or look down on the person targeted for.

Rape, “revenge porn,” domestic abuse.

It’s fucked up.

EDIT: And yes, I know the driving force behind these crimes isn’t sex. It’s power. It’s assholes attacking and abusing others to feel “dominant” and control others. But the “sexual” aspect is treated like it makes the crime less serious than it clearly is.
