Cullen Bunn: I think the Polaris fans will be very pleased in the days to come. I’ve always wanted to have her appear, but I needed to wait for the right time. Some other elements I’ve been planning to use for a while ended up playing so well with the idea of Polaris that I simply couldn’t resist. So… yes… Polaris… and soon.
As for Magneto’s relationship with her, it’s certainly complicated. He’s distanced himself from her, then brought her into his confidence. Master of Magnetism, maybe. Master of Fatherhood? Not hardly. I think with Lorna, though, he sees so much potential, not just because she has powers just like his, but because he didn’t screw her up the way he might’ve screwed up Wanda and Pietro. She’ll be an interesting addition to the cast to say the least.
Hey maximoffmartell, I think this will interest you, like, a lot. (via nogummybearleftbehind)

So here’s what I’ve learned from the last two months of getting hacked and helping friends who have gotten hacked. It’s a work in progress cause I am currently mad as hell so I will be adding to it as time goes on, but since another woman got doxxed tonight I figured it’s a start.
General Tips:
Don’t give yourself a hard time for feeling a certain way. It’s a messed up position you’ve been put in and there’s no “right” way to feel. You’re not failing if it bothers you, you’re not failing if you’re angry, you are not failing for not being “tough enough”. A lot of emotions come with these situations, and you’re totally allowed.
Document everything. I can’t say this enough. If you set up a dropbox screenshots folder, you can have a screencap automatically saved with the press of the printscreen button. For stuff longer than a screencap, use http://archive.today/ in case of deletion. It’s better to have it and not need it than not have it and need it. If you end up needing to take it to the authorities, they’re gonna wanna see this stuff, and the more you have the better. You might not know what the situation will evolve into, so be vigilant in your documentation. If it stresses you out or gets to be too much, ask a friend or loved one to help you. Similarly, if you see this happening to another person, maybe screencap it just in case. If you go to the police, they’ll want this stuff, and want it printed. It’s good to have more than less.
Don’t suffer alone. Make sure you reach out, and again, don’t judge yourself. It’s not weak to want or need help or to vent. There are so many women in the industry who understand what you’re going through and would be happy to help however they can. If you have someone in person that can look after you, all the better. They’ll remind you that what is happening to you is wrong, they will help make sure you’re taken care of, and it’s a huge huge asset.
Doxxing:
Spend the $10 to hide your whois info off of your websites ahead of time if you can. This is a very common tactic.
Pre-emptively remove yourself from Spokeo: http://www.sileo.com/spokeo-scary-bad-how-to-opt-out/. Spokeo is a service that a lot of doxxers use, and even if you’ve already been doxxed you might still want to do this.
Most cell phone providers will allow you to change your number on their website.
Make your FB private. They will likely be trying to dig up whatever they can on you, real or imagined, and there’s no reason to leave stuff out there when you’re being creepily obsessed over. Make sure old posts get limited too – go to settings > privacy > limit past posts to do this.
Give other people affected a heads up & make sure they don’t give out more info. For example, in my case they spammed my former employers dating back all the way to when I was a teenager, trying to dig up more info on me. I know it can suck to have to try and explain this stuff to people, but it can keep more information from leaking out. Similarly, try to make sure people don’t freak out, and that they shouldn’t engage with these people or do anything other than hang up.
Change your security questions to something that isn’t related to your personal life. Come up with phrases that you use in place of your mother’s maiden name or your childhood best friend so someone who has your personal information can’t get into any of your accounts using these methods.
Crash with a friend if you can, in the thick of it. It’s a huge load off the mind to know that you’re safe and can handle dealing with this stuff without having to worry about someone knocking on your door. A thing a lot of people don’t understand till they’ve been there is the paranoia that comes with being doxxed for a lot of people, so make sure you’re doing things that will make you feel safer. Don’t worry about seeming like you’re overreacting, either – taking care of yourself is paramount.
Hacking:
Preemptively lock everything down: http://segonmedia.com/2014/08/21/the-quick-indie-guide-to-protecting-your-accounts/ Enable 2-step on everything, use a progam like 1 password or keepass to generate strong passwords, unique for every site, and store them in one location. Consider making a separate email account that you ONLY use for password recovery requests, and not revealing the account name to anyone, so in case everything gets hacked you have one clean email to send passwords to.
General stuff for any site:
If you can still login, change your password then change your recovery email.
Revoke any third party app permissions. Third party app permissions will let things be posted to your account regardless of password. This is how they were able to post stuff from my Tumblr to my Twitter when my Tumblr got hacked – it had a function that automatically blogged anything I posted on my Tumblr to my Twitter.
If you can’t login, fill out a password reset request.
If that doesn’t work, there’s usually another protocol in place per service.
Try and remember if there’s any places you have accounts for that you might have forgotten. For example, they got into a dominos.com account I had made and forgot about to try and send someone a pizza. It can be especially damaging if that account is automatically set up to charge any of your accounts.
Twitter: Contact support here if you can’t login and your recovery email account has been changed: https://support.twitter.com/articles/185703-my-account-has-been-hacked
Tumblr:
Make sure they didn’t set a 3rd party email to post thing up
Gmail: I honestly have no idea here so preemptively lock down I guess. It will also let you see at the bottom of the page if anyone is logged into your acct from a different location and let you remotely terminate it, so keep an eye on that too.

Skype has been the most commonly hacked thing throughout gamergate. Their live chat is decent and works. Their live chat is here: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10656/what-is-live-chat-support
Here’s hoping you’ll ever need this.
I guess she has to be in line of sight to do this, but imagine if she didn’t:
Alex Summers walking down the street, suddenly a mailbox punches him in the dick
Alex Summers sleeping, alarm clock punches him in the dick
Alex Summers breakfast, forks and spoons punch dick
Alex Summers hardware store, everything, dick
He’d have to go live in the woods where he belongs
A lot of them I get the feeling have not been reading comics long.
There will always be fans who don’t like events/mini events. When things get shaken up there isn’t always a uniformed support. Whatever. That’s fine.
But for everyone who complains this is “the worst” CLEARLY needs to maybe check themselves.
And everyone who is like “it doesn’t make sense” and dismiss it…I have no trouble following so far. It makes sense. You know what doesn’t make sense? 99% of comics when I was growing up. Tell you what, read silver age comics. Manhattan floated away once and Spider-Man lassoed it and towed it back into place and it was resolved in a day. Ok? Check yourselves.
Wiki, like, any character. Your favorite character, follow the arcs and stories they have been involved in. Some of them are so convoluted and straight up stupid that they have actually been stricken from memory and even retconed by Marvel.
Trying to make Red Skull invert back to Charles and that go wrong (because Wanda chaos magic was involved) and some of the big players have become newly alined as good or evil (opposite of what they were) is not really confusing, I don’t honestly think it’s stupid (this is my favorite mini event in a while) and it’s interesting. No one HAS to be in character to do shitty stuff because they are inverted. No one is gonna be like “Cap would never do that, Wah!!!” Because now that really good guys are really bad guys, they really would do that. It also definitively shows you people’s alignment. People thought Magneto was a hero? Sympathizer and excuser fans? Well, he’s good now. So clearly he was bad. People who thought Wanda was evil or bad? Well, she is now, so she wasn’t before!
I find it a fascinating writing exercise. If someone was a really noble person. Does that make them a particularly depraved villain?
And it’s temporary. Because it’s a freaking mini event to get us to the Avengers Now January/February point one.
I get it, I don’t trust Rick either. But, damn it, people need to stop acting like spoiled brats and realize these are some of the greatest times for stories.
I have to respectfully disagree on this with two rebuttals, one subjective and one objective.
Subjective: The event, like many events, excludes characters that really should be there and have a huge stake in the event just because they’re “not popular enough” or because some editor at Marvel has a hate-on for them. Meanwhile, popular characters or ones the editors love to death can get all kinds of crazy and ridiculous excuses for them to get to be involved. I really don’t like that attitude.
Objective: This idea that the inversion “definitely proves” alignment of various characters is false. It is not editors and writers discerning the one true knowledge of these characters and laying it all out for the masses. These people didn’t create Magneto, or Scarlet Witch, or Red Skull, etc, nor were they the most influential players in making them big characters today. No, this is editors, writers and executives deciding that their personal biases are akin to the word of God from on high. In so doing, they’re being egocentric as all hell, and trying to cut off all actual dialogue as to who these characters are or what they’re like. It discourages thought and reflection on narrative.
Your remarks on Magneto and Scarlet Witch show this. Because Axis says “Magneto is evil” and “Wanda is good,” it shortcircuits all conversation as to the nuance of certain characters like Magneto, who are willing to do bad things for good reasons. Wanna have a discussion about how Magneto killing people is bad, but it may be doing more good than harm? “Nope, he’s evil, he’s a terrible person, nothing about him or any actions he takes can be construed as good.”
Now, personally, I’m not reading Axis and I really don’t care what happens in it, because of what I said in the subjective section. However, if someone asked me if it “counts” as an actual reflection on any of these characters, my answer would be no. It doesn’t. It’s nothing more than editors and writers trying to enforce their personal biases and agendas on readers, at the cost of the purpose that fiction is meant to serve in the first place.
At best, I’m going to walk away from Axis saying that the criteria for “good” and “bad” here is a complete fluke based on exceedingly restrictive criteria. That’s the only way I’ll accept Axis as real continuity. Otherwise it’s just fanfiction I have to pay for when there’s unofficial stuff equally good or better. That’s my take on all of this. All in all, I hope you enjoy your purchases anyway!

“NOT LIKE THAT.”
Before her was Monica Rambeau.
Not only a woman, but a woman of color.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monica_Rambeau
Don’t get me wrong, I love Carol. But I’m seeing so many people who are hailing her as this monumental FIRST, and she’s not. She’s a great character, and I LOVE that she’s Captain Marvel now.
But she’s not the first in the legacy, just the most recent.
Not only that, but the Monica Rambeau Captain Marvel was the leader of the Avengers for a time. She was definitely the heart of a lot of those late eighties/early nineties teams and, I agree, a much overlooked character.
why did she stop being so prominent?
Most likely because she was a woc and most white male writers care even less for them compared to their white counter parts
Yeah I thought that was the reason hun.
I’m just interested if there was any bulllshit reasoning from the white writers.
From what I was told years ago, the writers had Monica act like a terrible leader out of nowhere to send a message that Captain America needed to take over from her, in much the same way things happened to Maria Hill and SHIELD.

wyoh:
Oh look, it was a fucking hoax. [source]
According to two sources familiar with the clip’s production, the men in the video were approached on the street to take part in a “comedic, hidden camera” video. One source, who said he declined an invitation to be in the video, told TSG that he was told the production was a “student video.” He added that the film crew did not ask for participants to sign releases or any other “paperwork.”
Josh Blaine, the shaggy-haired man wearing sunglasses in the video, drives a Hollywood tour bus. In a message to his Facebook friends, Blaine said that he did “a favor for some camera crew guess this is what I get for being agreeable to someones project.” He added that, “it was supposed to be a funny skit. here’s to watching my back with virtually no friends. fuck my life.”
They’ve basically been portrayed as would-be rapists for the world to see and they weren’t asked any release and were not paid?!
From another article. And another.
Christine Michaels, owner of LA Epic Club Crawls, says employee Mike “Mokii” Koshak told her he was approached by the video’s maker and told to act the part of a zealous suitor for what he believed was a student comedy short film.(…) Koshak later said he felt duped by the producer when he saw the final product.
Koshak said on his Facebook page today that “the video that has me in it that’s going around the web was all staged and all of the people in it were acting.”
We were told that Koshak, who had not apparently signed a release, is now seeking legal representation in the matter.
Falsely making innocent men look like rapists so that someone can get a viral video out there is incredibly horrible behavior. I hope that tumblr spreads that this was all a set-up and that these men are actually victims here instead of giving more attention to the original video that is still going around. They now have their faces tied to horrible behavior that they did not commit and one of them already lost a contracting job over it. This is not okay.
