These Are The Colleges And Universities Now Under Federal Investigation For Botching Rape Cases

Columbia University is being investigated for potential violations of Title IX, the federal law that requires schools to adequately respond to cases of sexual assault on campus, officials from the U.S. Department of Education confirmed this week.

Last May, when the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) first publicly released the names of the colleges and universities under Title IX review, there were 55 schools on the list. But that number has been rising ever since. This week, the addition of Columbia brings the count up to 95 schools in total.

okay

today i wore a v-neck to school, something that is totally normal for 99% of the girls there, one of the girls in my french class was wearing one similar to mine in fact.

but my french teacher came up to me and told me that i was out of dress code and that i was asking for something to happen to me.

and all day long i had to slap guys who found it perfectly okay to grab them.

im a 32DDD, 5’1, and 115 pounds. due to this im known around the school as the walking boobs, the girl who grew in other places, and BITS. I constantly get called a whore and a tease.

Girls are always accusing their boyfriends of sleeping with me.

and there have been times when i have had to tell teachers that my eyes are up here.

i grew boobs in the eighth grade, i was a DD then, and i cant tell you how many fights i got into with guys who thought it was alright to stick their faces in them.

the point of all of this is that its bullshit.

i should be able to wear a v neck to school without worrying about who is going to grab my boobs next, or who is going to throw a gum wrapper in them, or what girls are going to say next.

Fuck that shit! I would report any teacher that needs to be reminded not to stare at your chest. That is not okay in any sense.

Also, I’d say screw slut-shaming, but this isn’t even a matter of dressing how one wants, but a matter of a woman’s natural state being the reason that men think it’s okay to sexual harass or assault her.

  • Large breasts are not an invitation.
  • Large breasts are not an invitation.
  • LARGE BREASTS ARE NOT AN INVITATION.

Are we clear?

xx SF

Reblog and Amplify.

I had to reblog this because she’s not even showing that much cleavage. But she’s totally right. Large breasts are NOT AN INVITATION.

Holy fuck, those people described that harassed her are such assholes. My god. Everything described here is quite bluntly sexual harassment. And when I say that, I mean it’s the kind of thing that in a good workplace could get a person (rightfully) fired. Grabbing boobs without permission is just horrendous. And throwing a gum wrapper in a girl’s cleavage is just a huge “what the fuck is wrong with that guy” kind of thing.

It’s just really bizarre how things have changed, too. When I was in high school, as far as I’m aware, girls with big boobs didn’t get treated like their having them is a shameful thing. If anything, guys would’ve liked to see more of them. Yes, that goes into the other sexual harassment direction of ogling and objectification, but it’s still more respectful than “If you show them then I think I’m allowed to grab and mock them.”

It’s really sad that so many people seem to make assumptions on personality based exclusively on breast size.

As a sniper I was not usually the victim of a traumatic event, but the perpetrator of violence and death. My actions in combat would have been more acceptable to me if I could cloak myself in the belief that the whole mission was for a greater good. Instead, I watched as the purpose of the mission slowly unraveled.

The non-propaganda version of what it’s like to be an American sniper.

Excerpt; During my combat tour I never saw the Iraqis as “savages.” They were a friendly culture who believed in hospitality, and were sometimes positive to a fault. The people are proud of their history, education system and national identity. I have listened to children share old-soul wisdom, and I have watched adults laugh and play with the naiveté of schoolboys. I met some incredible Iraqis during and after my deployment, and it is shameful to know that the movie has furthered ignorance that might put them in danger.

As a sniper I was not usually the victim of a traumatic event, but the perpetrator of violence and death. My actions in combat would have been more acceptable to me if I could cloak myself in the belief that the whole mission was for a greater good. Instead, I watched as the
purpose of the mission slowly unraveled.

I served in Iraq from
2004 to 2005. During that time, we started to realize there were no
weapons of mass destruction, the 9/11 commission report determined that
Iraq was not involved in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade
Center, false sovereignty was given to Iraq by Paul Bremer, the
atrocities at Abu Ghraib were exposed, and the Battle of Fallujah was
waged.

The destruction I took part in suddenly intersected with
news that our reasons for waging war were untrue. The despicable conduct
of those at Abu Ghraib was made more unforgivable by the honorable
interactions I had with Iraqi civilians, and, together, it fueled the
post-traumatic stress I struggle with today.

Bendis Announces “X-Men” Departure with “Uncanny” #600 (via CBR)

I will tell you that “Uncanny X-Men” #33 will be a fan favorite, because this is as close as I’ve ever come to writing something because people told me to. We had a pseudo movie poster-style
illustration in “All-New X-Men” #25 of Kitty and Magik as monster
hunters. When it came in, I said, “We should do that! We should just do a
book of Kitty and Magik fighting monsters.” I said it half joking, but I
wasn’t really joking because as soon as you saw the illustration, you
want to see more of it. The consensus of the response that I got from
issue #25 was that Hank McCoy should burn in Hell, and we should do a
book about Kitty and Magik fighting dinosaurs and monsters. And we’re
doing it.
Let’s talk a little bit more about Magik, then. You say readers
sort of brought their own impressions as to what characters you were
interested in, but it does seem like you were especially were interested
in her character.

Yes — there were quite a few characters, not just Magik, that I
really have an affection and empathy for. She’s definitely one of them,
and she’s going to have a lot to do in the next two issues. There will
be a lot going on with her. I like her training with Doctor Strange in
the past and bringing it forward. A lot of people seemed to like that as
well, which was nice.
The X-Men tend to float off into their own little part of the Marvel
Universe. It’s almost like they’re their own universe or publishing
house. There’s the Marvel Universe, and the X-Men universe. I think that
can be a mistake sometimes, and I like to find ways to pull them back
towards the Marvel Universe. I think the Doctor Strange connection with
Magik is a connection, and Beast’s Illuminati membership is another one.
Wanting to bring them towards each other is something I really like to
do, and Magik seemed obvious in that.

Well, damn. Now I’m really nervous about Secret Wars, even without any anti X-Men conspiracy theories.

“Anti X-Men conspiracy theories” implies the accusations are baseless, and frankly there’s a hell of a lot of evidence to suggest the accusations are well-founded. Disney and Marvel quite simply let certain things continue to happen only because they know they can’t get away with killing the entire franchise wholesale right out the gate without it doing serious damage to the company. They’re taking the slow, methodical approach that permits them to get away with what they’re doing due to people thinking anyone observing such changes is overreacting.

Magneto is a monster. He’s not a monster because he’s Jewish, or because he’s an Auschwitz survivor. He’s a monster because of the actions he’s undertaken, the people he’s killed, the lives he’s destroyed. None of that has anything to do with one racist guy somewhere in the world.

I think using the term “monster” is lazy writing. It’s dismissive and takes a three dimensional character and degrades them to a one dimensional trope. He becomes a cliche. It’s like taking everything he has done and just saying “he’s crazy” that just belittles everything he has been through, and attributes his actions not to his experiences or even defect of character, but just a scapegoat trope. Magneto isn’t a monster, but he has done monstrous thing. One would think a creative force for Marvel would know this. But I guess not.

I wouldn’t call this lazy writing. The use of the word “monster” is interpretive. Other heroes in marvel have been called monsters, like Wolverine, Punisher, and Ghost Rider (who is quite monstrous) I think are good examples. Just because he’s being labeled as a monster here doesn’t mean he hasn’t earned other more positive labels by now, it’s just a way for us to be reminded that this was a major marvel villain (on par with Dr Doom and the Red Skull)

Monster is lazy writing. It does not adequately describe his character as IS dismissive and IS offensive. He doesn’t need to be a martyr or a monster. He isn’t one extreme or anther, and to chalk him up as a “monster” with no context is BAD WRITING. call him a “monster” with context and effort, or say he is a man who has done “monstrous things” and leave it at that. It’s either or. You can’t just throw “monster” or “crazy” out there unqualified and say you are leaving it up to “creative interpretation” than wonder why everyone interprets that as offensive and lazy.

Yes, it does adequately describe his character. Magneto is a Jewish revenge fantasy and nothing more. He’s killed far more people than “evil” villains like Dr. Doom, Red Skull, Hydra, etc, but gets a pass just because he’s Jewish. Interestingly enough, his Jewishness was a RETCON in the 1980s. Before that, when he was a white man, it was okay for him to be pure evil and chaos, but after adding in his ethnic flair, suddenly he has to be a sympathetic, tragic, tortured soul. Sorry,  folks, but Magneto is a horrible person with no regard for life. I wonder why Marvel hasn’t killed him off yet. He’s worse than the Joker.

*face palm* way to not read what I wrote.

He’s worse than the Joker?

ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE

No I’m not having it anymore you fuckboys have taken the last straw I’m not standing for any of your bullshit “Opinions” if they mean “Hey let’s pretend this Minority fighting back is on par with a Psychopath and a Nazi!”
FUCK YOU AND GOODBYE

Magneto has HELLA PTSD. He watched his people, Jews, get systematically blamed and eradicated for simply existing by Nazies while the rest of the world either supported this or looked the other way. Yes, when he saw that happening again with Mutants he went a little revenge-rampage on them. BECAUSE MUTANTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A METAPHOR FOR PERSECUTED MINORITIES! Erik saw what happened in the past happening again in the present, and he said “never again” and did some arguably bad things with questionable mental stability in retaliation. He is not “just as bad” as the Joker, no. They are not even the same. The Joker is literally JUST a sociopath. He FEELS nothing. Magneto on the other hand feels EVERYTHING. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING. And how are you supposed to make a racist Nazi Jew-killing hate monger into a sympathetic villain? How am I supposed to sympathize  to him? I am German and Slovak. Tell me, I would like to know how I am supposed to look at the things my distant family and country have done and be like “but they had just reason to kill all those people because [insert your reason here]” please, enlighten me. Because all these years I was under the impression that Antisemitism is bad.

If the Joker’s “Killing Joke” origin is to be believed, he was a regular, good man with a pregnant wife. His wife and unborn baby died in a freak accident, Joker fell into some chemicals, and he went completely insane. And that’s not even going into the fact that he’s never been given a chance at proper mental treatment because Gotham City is a hellhole. Magneto chose to be an evil scumbag. I know people with PTSD and they aren’t mass-murderers.

1) Killing joke is a retcon, that then got retconed. So no? It shouldn’t be believed?
Him not getting adequate treatment? Seriously? He lives in an asylum. Her is under 24 hour care when he’s not loose. Gotham has a strange inability to keep the criminally insane contained, but that doesn’t mean they are not giving him psychological help while there. That’s Harley’s origin. She was his doctor… So yeah, shut up.

And Magneto Chose? CHOSE? Really? You argue Joker can have less tragic things happen to him and “go insane” and it’s not a choice or to be held against him, but Erik can go through worse and go insane but it IS a choice. Person, is you serious? Really? Are you honestly THAT selective in who does and doesn’t have PTSD and whether or not it makes them accountable? Joker in most canon and current canon is just a sociopath who is also a woman beating misogynist and an all around awful sicko.

AND

PTSD…not everyone with PTSD are mass murderers, but a LOT of mass murderers have PTSD. If you cannot understand how that works, then I cannot help you. But then again, you do seem to by a nazi sympathizer so I’m certain you ARE really that dumb.

A retcon? Sort of like Magneto’s Jewish ancestry, huh? Anyway, who cares if it’s a retcon, it’s still a story and a version of the Joker. And if you think Arkham Asylum is a legitimate mental health institution, you’re kidding yourself. It’s a damn Halloween house where the inmates are treated like something out of the 1800s. There’s NO WAY this institution would work in 21st century America. No way. Have you read a Batman comic, played an Arkham game, or anything? Do you know what Arkham Asylum is?

What you’re basically saying is that Joker isn’t excused because his tragedy was smaller than Magneto’s? Okay. Whatever. Forget I brought up Joker and let’s examine Magneto on his own……he’s excused from killing thousands of men, women, and children because his own family died? Isn’t that hypocritical? He’s literally turning around and doing the same thing that was supposedly done to him. Yet, people admire him. Talk about sickos.

yes, i actually do know a thing or two about Joker. Me bringing up the fact that Killing Game is a retcon because YOU brought up Erik being Jewish is a retcon. See? Lets just keep throwing retcon around like it means anything, shall we? you apparently don’t grasp me pointing out your ironic hypocrisy. And Arkham is a shithole, like all asylums were at the time the comics were established. Its not my fault DC never chose to progress beyond that. They chose to keep the Joker as a sick face-skinning freak because they want to I guess. Magneto having writers who WANT to take him more in-depth is not HIS fault.

And you seem to be arguing with me that Magneto has done bad things and I don’t BELIEVE you. Dude, you don’t know me, I get that, but I have been a Magneto fan for decades and have actually watched him go from megalomaniac mass murderer, to anti-hero, to head of the Xavier School, to the king of his own country, to watching 16 million Genoshian mutants killed, to being a tragic martyr, House of M, to being 1 of 200 mutants left on earth, to having broken powers and finding out he isn’t the father of the Twins. and then everything in-between. Asteroid M was involved several time. also a cloning. a de-aging, and apparently he fucked Rogue. I know what he has done. Some of the stuff he has done is MONSTROUS but that doesn’t make him a monster. See, this whole argument was about literary language. To use the word “monster” with out any quantifiers is dismissive and BAD WRITING, but to say he has done “monstrous things” acknowledges his flaws and horrible deeds without belittling what lead him to those actions and isn’t bad writing.

you are riding your little nazimobile around in circles around the subject. the subject being using the word “monster” is LAZY. Honestly, it’s lazy if you use it on the Joker, it’s lazy if you use it on Magneto.

It’s lazy writing.

Unless we are talking about Redskull. He actually is a monster and doesn’t need any more in-depth explanation.

Brevoort’s the kind of guy that doesn’t understand the X-Men franchise, and more importantly, doesn’t WANT to understand the X-Men franchise. He’s in charge of the Avengers books. His entire area of interest is the Avengers books, and trying to put them on a higher pedestal.

Trying to make Magneto out to be a monster, and nothing BUT a monster, is the name of the game. If he does that, and if he’s successful in tricking people into agreeing with that view, then he can further diminish the X-Men franchise. In his twisted view, diminishing the X-Men franchise benefits the Avengers franchise, and it’s somehow impossible to treat both with respect.

He won’t admit this, and he’ll proclaim he’s offended by such a suggestion, but his attitude and actions say a hell of a lot more than whatever words he writes down.

ppaction:

Fox News hosts Stacey Dash and Andrea Tantaros shared their thoughts on campus sexual assault last week — saying “good girls” avoid frat parties, and women who are raped are “bad girls” who “need to be kept away from liquor and boys.”

This is the bottom line: Sexual assault is NEVER the victim’s fault. No matter what. And this kind of victim blaming isn’t just outrageously offensive; it perpetuates extremely harmful and wrong ideas about sexual assault, and makes it harder for survivors to seek justice and support. We should be working to end rape culture and sexual assault — not blaming victims and giving voice to disgusting, sexist ideas. Add your name here if you agree.
