If someone has a truly legitimate gripe about the character herself (e.g. I don’t like Platinum in Blazblue because she has an incredibly annoying voice I hate hearing), then I’d say being against the character is fine.
But if they have no reason, or they throw one out but it’s a stupid ass reason or clearly just a flimsy one they concocted to justify their negativity after the fact, then yeah, I’d say it’s fair to make that accusation. Even if it’s not conscious racism, it can still be racism. It’s the same problem as black people getting stopped more often by cops simply for being black, racial profiling.
