I guess this is my way of dealing with the fact that one my favorite relationships in the Marvel Universe is no more 🙂
We still don’t know anything yet. Marvel is fooling with us and so to me this will continue to be the brother and sister.
Marvel forced the retcon entirely because they’re mad about how Fox has the film rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises. Marvel wants a better deal, and in their short-sighted ignorance, Disney and Marvel have decided trying to ruin those franchises in every way possible on THEIR end is the way to go.
Which, of course, means splitting up the Magnus family – because they somehow think changing those relations will hurt Fox, when it’ll only help them.
Given that Marvel’s trying to ruin something amazing all because of a little money spat with Fox…
The forced retcon is invalid, and I reject it. Wanda and Pietro are still Magneto’s kids. Lorna is still their half-sister. Luna is still Magneto’s granddaughter, Wiccan and Speed are still Magneto’s grandsons, and the twins are and always will be mutants.
If the legal rightsholders of these characters don’t like it, then that’s too bad. I’ll be here waiting for when Disney and Marvel decide they’re ready to be better, more intelligent companies.
My fic acknowledges the retcon but I agree with everything you are saying. I was so angry and sad and hurt when I learned about the retcon. And I’m sure that at some point they will realize what a horrible decision it was and change it back. I only fear that this might take years. And I tried to show in my fic that Pietro and Lorna are both devastated but still want to be around each other and love each other as siblings 🙂
I’ve always loved how the fandom will do for itself the sort of things the companies themselves will not. Sometimes it’s stuff that it’s actually good the companies don’t do, bizarre random ideas like a character as a druggie or pairings that don’t really work out outside fanfic…. and other times, it’s like this case. The capacity of fandom to make the most out of terrible developments is something to behold.
As for how long, I’m choosing to take an extremely conservative safe bet and assume it’ll take 10-20 years. I’m assuming it’ll take that long before people take over at Disney and Marvel that actually know what they’re doing. I’d like the people already there to figure it out, but sadly I think they’re too stubborn and set in their ways to give looking from other POVs a shot.

Polaris, Scarlet Witch, and of course, Emma Frost in fashion art by Krister Selin
The pasties on Emma are an interesting touch. The fashion art idea is something I’ve honestly only seen with fanart of comic book women, and it’s very cool.
My life officially revolves around this poor family.
(Sorry Marvel, but Erik will always be the twins’ dad in my heart)
And in actual continuity, at least as far as I see it.
Unlike retcons in past decades, this one was done purely for greed-motivated reasons. Fox owns the X-Men film rights, Disney and Marvel don’t like the current deal with Fox and want a better one, so they’re greedy and short-sighted enough to think ruining the family in the comics will somehow do anything other than help Fox.
For me, Marvel stopped writing Wanda and Pietro shortly before Axis. Anything post-Axis is invalid until they’re back as Magneto’s kids and Lorna can spend time with Wanda and Pietro again. It’s especially bad since there’s a ton of potential to Lorna and Wanda and Marvel’s just throwing it away over a film rights spat.
Look what you’ve done to us, Daddy. Pietro was right… you… you ruined us before we even had a chance. Why would you treat your own children this way? Babies. Why? Because you actually think you’re better than everyone else. The arrogance of you. You think because w’re mutants we’re better than them. That we deserve to rule. That’s what you wanted and I gave it to you. But look…look what it becomes! Even when you get what you want, you’re still this horrible man. We’re not the next step, we’re not gods. We’re freaks!! Look at us, Daddy!!!! We’re freaks!! Mutants!! You chose this over us and you ruined us!!! Daddy…
Do you guys realise how amazing it would be to get Liz as Wanda? We could have Mary Kate as Polaris in the mcu and Ashley in the X-men movies and no body NOBODY MENTIONS THE LOOK A LIKE SITUATION BECAUSE SISTERS. Like what is stopping them. Can we get an Olsen sister situation up in the Lehnsherr family brood already? Taylor could be young Anya.
If this was possible, I’d be all for it. Marvel needs to start treating the comics better first before anything like this has a shot.
I’ve seen suggestion that she’s bipolar, which makes sense when trying to incorporate all of comics continuity. She has crazy ups and downs on the far extremes of mood. Sometimes she gets to be an inspiring badass, other times she’s written as depressed and defeated.
She also at least at one time had body image issues, which prompted the red and gold costume – which from what I’ve been told, she had to be taken out of due to concerns it was too risqué. And her PTSD from the Genoshan genocide definitely brought on schizophrenia, what with some hallucinations.
In spite of how little Marvel’s used her and how little they acknowledge her importance and history with the X-Men franchise, her mental history is extremely varied.
Still High on Capitalism…as predominantly rich, white, upper class, cash in on “The Green Rush”. People of color and Poor People are left on the sidelines or sit in Jails and Prisons.
The legalization of marijuana is spreading across America, gaining supporters to allow the legal use of marijuana for medical purposes. Florida is one of the states that has joined the trend to allow some nurseries to grow marijuana, but black farmers and nurseries have been left out. Why?
How legal constraints are shutting out black farmers
Low-THC marijuana has been known to help patients who suffer from cancer, seizures, and muscle spasms. Many states like Florida are allowing nurseries to grow and distribute it, but under very tight constraints. For example, in order to get a license to grow and distribute marijuana in Florida, nurseries must have been in business for 30 years. The problem is that black farmers and nurseries were virtually non-existent 30 years ago.
In addition, it is expensive to get a license to enter the business of growing marijuana. It can cost thousands of dollars, and this can be a huge roadblock for many black entrepreneurs and others who want a piece of the pie. The pie represents what the Florida state Department of Revenue projects medical marijuana businesses could make – $5.6 billion in annual sales.
The battle continues…
It was only last year that Florida Governor Rick Scott ® signed the Compassionate Medical Cannabis Act, legalizing marijuana in the state for medical purposes. Since that time, black farmers have been working hard to get the governor to ease up on regulations that are preventing them from entering the industry. Black farmers, with the support of the Florida Black Farmers and Agriculturists Association, aren’t giving up but continuing their fight for equality in the medical marijuana industry.
