So, I know there has been some TH and EO bashing in the
fandom I got slightly drunk and braved the Elizabeth Olsen tag and all I found
was strong words against said bashing and or cheering them on. I am so in love
with this strong and new side of my favourite fandom that I do not feel the
embarrassment of being one of them I did two years ago over a tennis
match.I know some of us find it hard but we don’t own him! We do
not know him personally (even if you have met him once) and we need to remember
we are not in this to score, we are not in this to trap him and we are not in
this to date him (if it may happen bonus but that’s not why we are here) we are
fans and we are here to love and support the man. SO LOVE AND SUPPORT HIM…
Even if he’s not dating you, he has the right to be happy. That does not include you abusing his spouse.
If they’re dating or not:
How would you feel in her place?
How would you feel if it was your best friend or sister in
her place? Please think before attacking her.
TO EVERYONE ELSE, THANK YOU FOR BEING AWESOME!!! I LOVE YOU!!
I think he’s an epic actor and a gent.
Some of fandom for various things is getting incredibly hateful, toxic and abusive. More and more, I’m realizing that kind of behavior is a huge risk to not just fandom, but the internet as a whole. On the fandom side, it deters people from wanting to take part in fandom. Just as the original poster mlmannaz said, it made them feel embarrassed to be part of it.
The unfortunate side effect is that it could do a lot of harm to not just the fandom, but what the fandom is there to support. Maybe Tom Hiddleston will decide to quit acting at some point because the impression he gets of fandom is that it causes too much harm to his personal life and the people he cares about.
Because of this, it’s incredibly important to oppose such abuse, and show the good side of fandom. Every fandom needs fans that inspire and support, make it a welcoming place for new people, and show the fandom really is good and worthwhile. The good fans need to step up, because the bad ones can do a lot of damage – in many cases, completely unaware they’re doing it, or how far the damage will go.
I’m actually worried about what kind of harm “fandom” might do to real, living people 3 years from now if the current direction things are going in isn’t reversed or redirected.
