number one pet peeve of all academia related to literature:

  • when men are characters but women are symbols

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy fuck, and I was an English major.

in art, men are the subject but women are the object.

Hmm. I think this gives a lot of food for thought as to the history of academia, education and barriers to women getting to become part of them. Not just whether or not they get it, but whether or not they get to have any real say in culture and the arts.

PIETRO: This is interesting.
LORNA: What is?
PIETRO: You know who Cerberus is, yes?
LORNA: Three-headed dog that guards the gates to Greek hell. Sure.
PIETRO: Well, according to this, the name comes from the Greek word "kerberos.”
LORNA: Okay, so?
PIETRO: So it means “spot.”
LORNA: Again, so?
PIETRO: So it means that Hades named his big guard dog “Spot.” Well, I found that funny.

All New X-Factor #5, written by Peter David, art by

Carmine Di Giandomenico

This was one of the scenes I really liked in ANXF. Lorna using her powers in everyday mundane situations was wonderful, and something I at least so far haven’t seen anyone other than Peter David do.
