Claire Redfield fans need to chill out

video-games-girls-play-to:

Claire’s classic costume has no sleeves and gloves yet Leon is 100% accurate so some claire fans are taking the capcom hate claire and love leon attitude.

wtf how? claire has more dlc costumes than leon and footage lately has been much more Claire than Leon.

capcom are taking fan feedback on board over her classic costume.so calm down both children are loved equally😂

Actually, no. They’re not.

Since Resident Evil 4, Chris and Leon have been treated as the stars of the franchise, and Jill and Claire have been treated like lesser side characters that should primarily exist to benefit Chris and Leon.

Leon’s been the star of Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 6 (alongside Chris), and all three CG films released to date.

Claire’s only had Revelations 2 and one CG film (with Leon).

Leon got two main numbered entries with heavy promotion.

Claire only got one spinoff side game budget title that Capcom hardly promoted. A game that was primarily experimental, as if to say “we don’t give a damn about Claire, so we’ll try new stuff here cause it doesn’t matter if it flops.”

The story of Degeneration primarily emphasized Leon saving the day with Angela as his female counterpart, while Claire spent the first part as a damsel for Leon to rescue and the second part as more of a helper for Leon.

But then we get to this “remake.” Almost all of the announcement at E3 showed off Leon. Hardly any Claire. Then there’s the collector’s edition for the “remake,” with a figure of Leon. Only Leon. Claire isn’t included. There’s no alternate collector’s edition with Claire instead. Just. Leon.

I haven’t kept extremely close tabs on the “remake” because I’m not going to buy or play it. I know from E3 and the collector’s edition that this is a Leon fanwank, not an actual remake. So assuming Claire really is getting more footage lately, the only reason I can see for that is because people are starting to see how little Capcom thinks of Claire and now the company’s trying to make it look better so their Leon fanwank sells more copies.

Any time someone says “And that’s the tea,” you are now imagining it said with the same enthusiasm as “And that’s the game!”

I’m pleased to finally present the big project I’ve been dying to reveal: the cover for a Polaris 50th anniversary minicomic!

I’ve commissioned Mlad for what will be multiple pages of what I think captures her history and core nature. The minicomic will be released as each page is completed over the course of the next several months.

I hope you all enjoy this and what’s to come as much as I have and will!

It’s been a couple days, so just to cheat and give a reason to show this great cover off again, I’m gonna talk about some of the elements!

The second to bottom layer, the green waves are based on one of the panels from Giant-Size X-Men where she’s been charged up by Storm.

The layer of yellow with red Xs is based on one of the more noteworthy parts of her time in the 90s: her “scandalous” red and gold costume.

I felt the costume was important because it actually had a character-oriented reason for being and provided her with some development. She was self-conscious about her body, especially after brief power changes had radically changed her physically, and the costume was presented as her way of showing pride in her body. It’s even more meaningful when you consider that before she met the X-Men, Lorna had been dyeing her hair brown to avoid drawing attention to her natural (via mutation) green hair.

I’d never want Lorna to go back to that costume, mind. Aside from maybe a story arc or something. But of the various costumes she’s had, there was an actual point to it that served her character.

The presents represent the characters Lorna has a meaningful foundation with that I think Lorna deserves a hell of a lot more time with. Marvel gets no say in this, and in fact this wouldn’t even be happening if Marvel gave her the use and respect she deserves. Since we’re doing what Marvel won’t, we can do whatever we want with it. 🙂

In retrospect, I might’ve considered Gambit and maybe a few others for presents, but these were the characters that immediately came to mind.

What a lovely piece! I’m loving all the little details!

Thanks! My very original, early idea for an anniversary piece was just Lorna surrounded by random birthday stuff. Once I started thinking more about the cake, I realized it would be absolutely perfect to use the cake to get across how much history she really has.
