A few days ago, it was confirmed that X-Men Blue is ending, and Bunn is off the X-Men books as he goes to other areas of Marvel. I have a few things to say.

a new writer and the brief lorna-led team we had for a few issues. i
don’t even hate the original baby x-men but i’d much rather read about
lorna getting to lead, maybe making new friends and interacting with new
characters.
Someone else pointed out that the team given to Lorna on Blue conveniently had no A-listers, with Lorna and Daken being the most high-profile members.
X-Men Red has Jean leading a team that includes Nightcrawler and X-23, with appearances by Namor and Gambit. Astonishing X-Men, the team led by Havok (a character that people currently working at Marvel have repeatedly shown they respect more than they ever will Lorna), contains Beast and Colossus. These two other characters get people on their teams that are big names, but Lorna gets lesser known characters only.
Which, I should stress, does not mean those characters are bad or less meaningful than “A-list” ones. But I don’t look just at whether or not something is good or bad, but also Marvel’s intent. I get the impression that the intent was to treat Lorna like she’s “undeserving” of a team with characters they deem “better than her.” They might’ve been able to say “A-listers should lead A-listers,” but that goes out the window when Havok’s there leading them.
But overall, I agree with you. Lorna not getting to make new friends or interact with new characters was among my big complaints about Blue’s use of her.
We did get a short scene with teen Angel and Jimmy, and some action with the Rakshasa (or whatever it is), but it wasn’t really enough and it felt empty because these characters aren’t going to be around for Lorna to interact with long-term. It’s not like how with Gambit, I can point to All-New X-Factor and say “See, they had flirtations, there’s interest there between them.”
Which is a small part of why I kept saying Blue should’ve had Lorna interact with teen Jean and teen Iceman. They may be going away, but Lorna’s history with the adult versions of them when they were teens meant dynamics between them could have provided more lasting substance. Lorna’s interactions with them could’ve reminded and informed on dynamics with their adult selves. It would’ve benefited Lorna for sure, but also acted as a backdoor way of making the book feel like it had more to offer. That things happening on it weren’t flash in the pan moments that had no impact on the rest of X-Men/Marvel work.
Bunn didn’t take advantage of that. Or the editors said he couldn’t and he followed their wishes.
EDIT: Oh, and as far as new writer goes, I increasingly think Lorna needs a female writer. Past few writers for her have been men, and there were problems in those depictions that I think were due to a male-centric POV of her value. Even just having a female editor seems to help; Secret Wars: House of M did great with her.
