She, of course, deserve a second chance. Just like everyone else. Especially Polaris who has a heart of gold.

… And this was one of the highlight problem points I had with Lorna being forced out into space.

Not only was an excellent potential storyline of Lorna dealing with the anti-Apocalypse cult thrown away, but we had moments like this one. Lorna’s set up in this scene as a damsel for Havok to rescue, and on top of it, Lorna blames herself for actions she had no control over.

I might have been able to believe the attitude written for Lorna here if her time as Pestilence was the first time someone hijacked her body to make her do evil deeds, but it wasn’t. She spent most of Claremont’s run trapped inside her own body with Malice in control, and “Lorna mind-controlled to serve others’ interests” had already become such an overused trope by the early 90s that Peter David poked at its overuse in a storyline. Government intended to brainwash Lorna to use as a weapon against Magneto if he became a threat, splinter group tried to enact the plan and failed.

With so many cases of Lorna getting possessed or mind-controlled, this “I’ve done horrible things and deserve to be in prison” stuff is the furthest thing from a reaction I would expect Lorna to have. It’s like expecting someone whose car keeps getting stolen to act surprised every single time it happens. Eventually, you become so accustomed to it and have already gone through all the angles and reactions that you know better.

None of my post here is intended as hostility toward starrjammers. I’m expressing frustration at the source material, not the person posting it.

The one in green is supposed to be Enchantress. During Axis, Marvel was being really assholish and trying to undermine Lorna and Wanda’s sister relationship. There was another Axis cover that put Wanda and Enchantress on opposite sides of Magneto.

Meanwhile, Lorna and Wanda were actually getting to interact in All-New X-Factor #14, and not only did Marvel not promote it, but they withheld its cover until a week before the issue’s release so word of mouth had less chance to spread.

It was one of the clearest cut cases of a company going out of its way to undermine something that fans want I’d ever seen. It’s the same reason why they created Luminous/Luminosa/whatever her name is as a replacement “sister” for Wanda and Pietro after the forced retcon of them out of being Magneto’s kids.

All of the above said, I’ll gladly pretend that Axis cover has Lorna, because it should’ve been her in the first place.

Not that Wanda and Enchantress can’t interact, mind. But Marvel’s entire purpose behind using Enchantress with Wanda in the specific case of Axis wasn’t to work with narrative potential, but destroy the potential between Lorna and Wanda. I don’t take such antics very well.
