Just wanna note that while Marvel is completely ignoring Polaris and her potential, DC Comics is heavily using Emerald Empress, who looks very much like her.

This was in the preview for Inhumans vs X-Men #4.

I guarantee that one small picture of Lorna’s head, and the future/AU/etc version that will be on Deadpool and the Mercs for Money, is the entirety of her involvement. Then we won’t see her again for another year or two.

That’s the way @marvelentertainment functions. They provide just barely enough to be able to say “See, we do stuff with her, complaints are unfounded” before going back to completely ignoring her and throwing away her potential. That’s the full extent of Marvel’s interest in her.

Once again, please note that when I say Marvel, I mean Marvel. Not the writers and artists that work for Marvel. I think many of them have an interest in working with Polaris and exploring her potential, but Marvel doesn’t want them to pursue that interest. Marvel the company sees her as an obstacle instead of an asset and simply doesn’t want to admit it. Which is an attitude that’s completely demolished the interest in exploring the Marvel universe that I once had.

Sorry for got this off-topic, however

I couldn’t help but notice that Lorna’s panel was connected with Pietro’s. Yeah, Pietro with Lorna. Not Wanda. And this Wanda is not
even

from 616 or Prime Earth. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but it can be somehow… suggestive.

I don’t think it’s off topic at all! It’s relevant to Lorna.

Putting them near each other like that is interesting, and pretty fitting. Lorna and Pietro have had more interaction lately than Wanda and Pietro, and when they do interact, it’s always held a sibling sort of vibe – even when they didn’t know they were stepbrother and stepsister. I haven’t read much of Wanda and Pietro without Lorna involved, but perhaps Lorna and Pietro act more like siblings than Wanda and Pietro?

A lot of things can be read into the placement of these things if we want to take that route. I could take Lorna’s headgear meaning her history in the X-Men will get more cover in the future, cause it’s the headgear she wore back in the early 70s.

That’s one way I could interpret it. In reality, I’ve learned from Marvel over the past 7 years that it doesn’t mean anything. If it did, Marvel would go out of the way to rob it of its original purpose and then claim it was just a random decision. There used to be a time when I thought I could analyze comic pages and covers and pick up subtle hints to planned stories. Now I know the only thing you can really pick up on with images like these is how much or how little respect Marvel has for a particular character, if you can get even that out of it.

This is my go-to image that I think of every time I make this sort of statement.

It was a banner at San Diego Comic Con 2010. At the time, Polaris and the rest of the Starjammers were stuck out in space. Polaris fans got in a huge excited buzz about what placement of various characters might mean. Were the Starjammers going to come back? Does Polaris near Apocalypse mean we’re going to see her time as Pestilence explored?

Instead, it turned out to mean absolutely nothing. According to Marvel, the characters on this image were just whatever random picks the artist wanted to draw, no relation at all for plans Marvel might have for the characters. All that fan conjecture and fan excitement amounted to crushed fantasies and dreams.

It doesn’t hurt to speculate, but when it comes to Polaris, it’s necessary to go in expecting Marvel has no plans for her.
