I never really got why some people got annoyed about the reveal of Iceman being gay. I rather liked the news myself.

Yeah, he has dated the following women in the past; Judy Harmon, Zelda, Darkstar (Laynia Petrovna), Polaris (Lorna Dane), Annie Ghazikhanian, Shadowcat (Katherine Pryde), Mystique (Raven Darkholme), Opal Tanaka, and Mirage (Marge Smith). However, they all were either from when he was very young (sixteen-ish) or generally didn’t last long and ended badly. The story even gives an excuse for them, via Iceman’s own admitted self-denial and attempt to act straight.

I will admit, part of me wish it came sooner, so he could have been paired with Northstar (Jean-Paul Beaubier), since there was a slight mini-character plot over Northstar’s secret feelings for Iceman.

But oh well, I am still looking forward to see how this is taken and hopefully Marvel does not go back to being apprehensive again, like they tend to be with same-sex relationships. Hopefully its not another six-year long wait, like we had with Wiccan (William “Billy” Kaplan) and Hulking (Dorrek VIII / Theodore “Teddy” Altman), or anything worse…such as Marvel’s horrific handling of Freedom Ring (Curtis Doyle).

These pages came from Uncanny X-Men, Vol. 1, Issue #600.

I don’t have a problem with it either. I technically “could” have one because Bobby’s the only potential love interest not named Havok that Lorna’s been allowed to have with any exploration, but I think that history actually puts Lorna in a prime and unique position no other woman Iceman dated could match… if Marvel stopped sucking and made actual use of Polaris and her potential.

Polaris is the first woman older Iceman dated, and of the love interests Bobby had, Lorna is the earliest. Unlike the young Jean Grey, Lorna can verify young Iceman’s mannerisms and attitudes matching up with the older present day Iceman’s when he WAS young Iceman. Better yet, Lorna is in a prime position where she could serve as Iceman’s female mentor or support, in a similar way as Emma’s done with young Jean Grey (Lorna would’ve been good with young Jean too, but too late now).

There’s also Lorna’s comments about Iceman at the bachelorette party of her wedding that never panned out. There, Lorna says sex with Bobby is something you “endure.” The comment matches up well with the idea that Iceman was bad at it only because he was trying to force himself to act like he had romantic feelings for women he really didn’t have.

But, Marvel being Marvel, I guarantee we’ll instead see something like older Iceman filling the mentor role, and young Jean Grey or a random new character they create filling the gal pal role. Because Marvel hates Polaris and everything she has to offer for no good reason.

X-MEN 92 Vol 2 7 Preview classic x-factor return

@salarta ARE YOU SEEING THIS SHIT

I am, and your @ didn’t work for some reason. 😛

I wrote out my thoughts here. Long story short, I’m surprised she’s actually in it, but I’m expecting she’ll get treated poorly because Brand’s in it and they’re trying to promote her moreso. We won’t actually know until the issue’s out, it may be amazing for all I know. I’m only preparing myself for how Marvel typically treats her.

X-POSITION: Bowers & Sims Bring Apocalypse To X-Men ’92

In just six issues, the ongoing “X-Men ’92” series has covered a lot of ground. The team’s seen new members like Psylocke and Bishop join, taken in a whole student body of heroes in training, fought villains ranging from Dracula to Alpha Red — and served as security for the rock festival Lilapalooza. But even with so many big moments in the rearview mirror, there are curves and warning signs ahead — because there’s one big, blue ancient mutant angling for a comeback.

Surprisingly, Polaris actually does show up in this, and appears to actually do a little more than just show up for a couple panels and disappear.

Whether her appearance on this is good or bad, we’ll have to see the issue to find out. From what I’ve seen so far, the book is really pushing Brand, and the typical Marvel approach to a writer having two characters with the same trait and wanting to promote one of them more is to screw over the one they don’t want to promote. Maybe the writers will be better than typical Marvel here, but I’m going to prepare for the likelihood that Lorna will be depicted poorly to make Brand look better.

You can tell my faith in Marvel has nosedived after being screwed with for seven years.

What it’s like to be slut-shamed when buying birth control

Even when pharmacists do let people access contraception, whether emergency contraception or condoms or prescription birth control pills, the process isn’t always free of judgment. In a series of recent online discussions, people across the country have begun to share stories of the stigma they’ve experienced. As many have pointed out, this can be especially damaging to teens.

DO YOU SEE THIS? PHARMACY EMPLOYEES IN THE U.S. ARE NOT LEGALLY ALLOWED TO DO THIS. THAT GOES FOR THE PEOPLE AT THE FRONT AS WELL AS PEOPLE IN WHITE COATS BEHIND THE CAGE.

If an employee in a pharmacy makes a snide comment – Front store workers, pharmacists, or Pharmacy Techs give you shit? Gently (Or not so gently) remind them that the waiver they signed upon being hired legally binds them from commenting on your purchase, as it is a violation of privacy laws. Doing so is grounds for INSTANT termination and hefty fines.

Pharmacy workers (white coats) are legally obligated to ASK if you need an explanation of how medication works and any side effects, any medication conflicts etc. If you decline, THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED AT ALL TO MAKE SNIDE REMARKS OR FARTHER COMMENT ON YOUR PURCHASE. FRONT STORE EMPLOYEES CAN NOT AT ALL COMMENT IN ANY WAY, IN ANY STORE WITH A PHARMACY IN IT.

Know your rights. If this shit happens? Call them the fuck out and ask to speak to a manager. Get worked up. Cause a scene. Threaten a Lawsuit. If you see this happening to someone else, and they seem to be struggling, speak up for them.

As a Pharmacy worker, you bet your ass I’ll protect you and your privacy. IT’S MY JOB.

I WISH I I had known this.
