Truth behind GOP opposition to abortion is twofold: it’s a way for them to control women through their bodies, and it’s a way to keep poor people poor and inflict maximum suffering.

If the GOP really cared about “the sanctity of life,” they wouldn’t stop their concern the moment the baby is born. They would provide assistance to mothers in need of it, especially single and teen mothers. They definitely would have kept CHIP going or replaced it with something better.

That the GOP cares so little about human lives post-birth tells you all you need to know. Force disadvantaged women to give birth, force them to rack up bills, force them to either part with the baby or carry the baby into poverty, and if the baby dies, force the new mother to have to feel guilt over the baby’s death. That’s what the GOP is really after.
