FF4′s my favorite game, and before I discovered Polaris, Rosa was my favorite character. I put a fair amount of time and effort into supporting the character back then, and I believe she gets more respect nowadays as a result. I’ve seen arguments I made in defense of her a decade ago still used by people. At the time, there seemed to be a dominant attitude of her as a “worthless damsel in distress” alongside other things flat out made up. Now people seem to see what used to be missed of her in the game’s story, how she was the foundation for other characters like Aeris and Yuna, etc.

And yeah, I liked the way class went in FF4. It wasn’t just “each character is locked to this class,” but the class actually plays a role in characterization and personality.

I don’t see it as dated, but then, I grew up with it.
