I’ve been out of sorts for around a month (maybe a bit more), but it’s time for me to do something I used to do on a different site and will now do here instead: highlight tweets from people concerning Lorna.
Both tweets here bring me to a pretty important point to me: Polaris has a history that Marvel has been disregarding for decades.
She was introduced in 1968, and she got a raw deal because that was the tail end of the first run. She would’ve benefited from getting introduced earlier, and getting to keep Magneto as her father instead of having a forced retcon that kept her away from it for several decades.
She was the second female X-Men member, in other words. But she wasn’t included in the all-female X-Men run, and whenever Marvel brings up female X-Men characters, she’s ignored or ranked incredibly low on the totem pole in their eyes.
Pretty important to bear this in mind with this year being Lorna’s 50th anniversary, and Marvel doing nothing with her for it.
