“I can do whatever the hell I want,” he says. “Since this is a new 2099, I don’t feel any need to adhere to the previous 2099 continuity. For instance, there was already a Captain America 2099 and I felt no need to use that one in crafting the Avengers. My Cap is wholly original. And I have to admit, I love seeing fans going nuts because she’s built up like an actual weight lifter. No one thinks anything of the Super Soldier serum giving huge muscles to a man, but do it with a woman and suddenly many fans are howling in protest. She looks like a big woman, guys. Deal with it.”

need her playable in Marvel Heroes asap

I didn’t even know there was an existing Cap 2099 and I looked him up and he just seems like Steve plus a fancy flag themed trench coat which is very meh.

I am glad PAD decided to make his own Cap 2099, she looks really fricking cool.

Yeah, the first Captain America 2099 was just a clone of Steve(I think). Not very interesting.

The new one is much better and she looks awesome! I wonder if she got a new form of the Super Soldier serum….

I dig the designs! Not sure yet if I’ll pick up the book, though, which depends on whether or not the ANXF team will be involved.

This kind of thing shows the potential of something like Secret Wars.

Unfortunately, we know from both Avengers vs X-Men and Axis that the actual execution is going to be shit, and it’s going to be the fault of editors and executives forcing selfish and greedy bullshit on in to satisfy their own interests.

I’m expecting Secret Wars to suck complete ass. Specifically to me, I expect Brevoort to use this as a chance to also retcon Polaris out of being Magneto’s daughter like he’s already retconned Wanda and Pietro out of being Magneto’s kids.

As a sniper I was not usually the victim of a traumatic event, but the perpetrator of violence and death. My actions in combat would have been more acceptable to me if I could cloak myself in the belief that the whole mission was for a greater good. Instead, I watched as the purpose of the mission slowly unraveled.

The non-propaganda version of what it’s like to be an American sniper.

Excerpt; During my combat tour I never saw the Iraqis as “savages.” They were a friendly culture who believed in hospitality, and were sometimes positive to a fault. The people are proud of their history, education system and national identity. I have listened to children share old-soul wisdom, and I have watched adults laugh and play with the naiveté of schoolboys. I met some incredible Iraqis during and after my deployment, and it is shameful to know that the movie has furthered ignorance that might put them in danger.

I served in Iraq from
2004 to 2005. During that time, we started to realize there were no
weapons of mass destruction, the 9/11 commission report determined that
Iraq was not involved in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade
Center, false sovereignty was given to Iraq by Paul Bremer, the
atrocities at Abu Ghraib were exposed, and the Battle of Fallujah was
waged.

The destruction I took part in suddenly intersected with
news that our reasons for waging war were untrue. The despicable conduct
of those at Abu Ghraib was made more unforgivable by the honorable
interactions I had with Iraqi civilians, and, together, it fueled the
post-traumatic stress I struggle with today.

soldiers speaking out like this is pretty rare. dont ignore this post.

that’s super sad

Naturally, the big problem with testing whether time travel will exist in the future by this method is the risk of altering future events in big ways just by confirming that time travel is presently set to exist some time in the future. Proving it’ll happen could change what people spend their money on, what actions they take (“I can go back in time and fix it”), and it could even lead to time travel never becoming possible at all. Even a minor change can have a ripple effect.

It’s neat that Stephen Hawking tried this (ASSUMING IT’S EVEN TRUE; remember, the internet makes up stuff like this all the time), but realistically the chances of such a dangerous technology winding up in the hands of someone that would actually accept the invitation were slim to nil.
