Interesting pages. I like how the start acknowledges Magneto has a limited POV compared to the reader; we know the Ultimates universe no longer has a Magneto, but 616 Magneto certainly doesn’t know that.
What we see here with Briar is more or less what I expected, and I mean that in a good way. I realized Bunn’s writing of Magneto is grounded, it doesn’t pull out any fantastical elements or crazy plot twists.
However, I DID have a few wild potential theories I was entertaining. Sort of the “leave all possibilities open” approach. One was that Briar might be Lorna from the future, before someone reminded me Magneto and Briar have been intimate. Another theory was that Briar could be an alternate universe Lorna, one of the versions of her that isn’t related to Magneto. There were a few other non-Lorna ones too, but I don’t really feel like going into them at the moment.
I also have theories of what might happen after Magneto #20, and these pages feel like they quash some of the more positive theories, but explaining them might count as spoilers.
