That’s very recent information. Despite having been created in 1968 and the second female X-Men member to join, Marvel only just recently gave her her origin story in 2012. The issue was X-Factor #243. Her mother’s Susanna Dane, we don’t know entirely what Magneto was doing at the time (or at least I don’t, anyway) aside from going around working with Mastermind.

Susanna Dane is partially based on an alternate universe version of her created in Civil War: House of M by Christos N. Gage in 2008. My memory is fuzzy since I first read it back in 2009, but that version met Magneto in his youth and they had a very intimate, romantic relationship before circumstances split them apart.

616 Susanna, all we know so far as 1) that she’s Lorna’s mother with Magneto as the father, 2) that Susanna and Magneto did have a relationship, 3) that Susanna’s relationship with her husband Arnold Dane had at least some rocky points, and 4) that Lorna accidentally killed her when her powers manifested as a young child and caused the plane she was on to crash.
