I just finished reading Magneto #18. It’s good. Damn good. Polaris actually had more of a role than I expected for this issue. I know Magneto #20 looks like it’ll heavily focus on her. Magneto #18 is available on Marvel digital comics right now if anyone wants to go buy and read it.
I don’t have time right now to do a thorough rundown on my views, so I’m going to do something short and basic. It’s also why I’m not tagging this post. I’ll post something more detailed later.
WARNING. SPOILERS AFTER THE JUMP.
The admission of issues in Lorna and Magneto’s relationship, with Magneto not being there for her, is great to see as I’ve said before. All characters and relationships have flaws, and those flaws are part of what make them so good.
Bunn got a line out there about Magneto possibly dying during this event very early. I’ll be honest, I’m worried Magneto, Lorna or both will be dead after this event. As much as I look forward to Magneto #20, I’ve grown paranoid any time something I like gets a spotlight of this sort during a major event. It implies the character will disappear or be killed off.
On the flipside, I REALLY liked the Marauders reference to Lorna having been possessed by Malice at one point, and Lorna getting pissed off about it. As her own character, her time as Malice wasn’t a good time for her, but as a point in character history, it was very important and reminds just how long she’s been with the X-Men franchise. It also makes me think that Lorna picking up where her father left off after Secret Wars is possible. Assuming certain rumors aren’t true, of course.
It wasn’t lost on me that Lorna saved a guy from falling to his death here. It’s a nice touch as to her heroic side.
That’s all I have the time to say right now. Will expand on this later today.
